Mid-Season Finale

Season nine of Bringing Up Bates premiered on March 5th, and viewers have witnessed a host of important milestones in the lives of the Bates clan members. Sadly, next week is the mid-season finale, but on the bright side, it's a full one-hour episode. We will meet Holland Grace Paine and enjoy some additional family festivities, including a date with Trace and Chaney and a baby shower for Layla Stewart.

  1. I'm sorry, maybe I am stupid. But I think forcing a mother to have her baby in a hospital gown is repulsive. They are free people, they should be able to wear their own clothing. I feel that is taking away freedom. Would make me feel so uncomfortable. I already know that I want to have a home birth when I start having kids. At least in a birthing center. I support Alyssa's decisions on that.

    1. I’ve given birth six times and I can tell you one thing for sure... I’m so glad I gave birth in a hospital gown. Births can be messy. Hospital gowns can be thrown out. When wearing a hospital gown it creates an easier access for medical staff to help you if something were to go wrong. There are hospital gowns you can purchase online and wear to certain hospitals. I just decided not to because then I would have to stow it away, bring it home & wash it.

    2. I haven't seen the episode. Did they say she had to wear their gown? I would think you wouldn't want to wear anything from home that you wouldn't want stained.

    3. When someone’s having a baby in the hospital they have a chance for a much better outcome if an emergency arises, like the cord being wrapped around the baby’s neck or the need for an emergency c-section or if the mother is bleeding too much. Medical technology is amazing. Women and babies used to die back in the pioneer days before medical advances. I’m not sure why you are so bothered by a thing as simple as a medical gown, there are many reasons for a medical gown, such as having access to your arms so IV’s can be placed etc.

    4. 10:43PM: You have no idea, lol. You would never want to give birth in your own clothing. Maybe a yoga bra on top, and nothing on the bottom, but I liked hospital gowns. You don't have to wash them afterward, and sometimes I would feel cold and it was nice to have the gown on. Just you wait

    5. As a person who has given birth in a hospital gown, I appreciated not risking ruining my own clothes. After birth I changed clothes as soon as I was able.

    6. Freedom? The hospital is a private business and can make their own rules. I believe in private businesses being able to make their own rules, unfettered by big government. We don't have "freedoms" when we are on other people's property.

    7. @10:43-What! Should she have been in an evening gown?

    8. Her street clothes might have dirt and germs. What if a farmer came in to give birth, and she’d just been mucking out stalls, and insisted on wearing her clothes? The hospital is trying to get the best possible outcome for mother and baby. They are allowed to make their own rules at their own business, just as you make your rules at your house

    9. You do realize that someone likely died in that same hospital gown days or weeks prior....I agree...washed or not, that’s just gross. Hospitals should allow people to bring their own gowns. As for me...I’m a home-birther...where I am in control of MY medical decisions...and nightgowns. 😊

    10. Most hospitals will allow you to bring your own gown if you want to?

    11. May 27, 11:38am. I like your thought process.

    12. 11:38, that is a pretty morbid place to take that! Never a concern of mine while giving birth.

  2. I do not understand why they are making next week the finale. I believe it's unfair to Chaney and her family. They could have show the end of that relationship, Carlin's Birth and Katie courtship.

It's not like BUB doesn't have the filming for these events. Shame on them to expand on Trace and Chaney for another season for ratings.

  3. why do they continue to include Tracy and Chaney when the relationship has been over for months? Even if it was filmed it seems as if it could be edited out.

  4. Sad that it’s the finale already:(
    Trace and Chaney...ugh.
I hope the new season will begin soon and have more up to date/airing material!!!

  7. The Bates family reality show is the absolute highlight of my "tv programing" week! I want new episodes 52 week per year!! I LOVE them! And i record all reruns the morning ones and Thursday evening ones! I would love to see Bringing Up Bates marathons (like they do for Reba Gilmore Girls and Little House (all of which I don't care for) at least one Saturday a month! At the rate the family is expanding they should have many crews following each member of the Bates parents and kids so plenty of taping! Of course taping/filming will be disrupted due to the stay at home orders now. Before anyone jumps on me about watching tv "too much" I want to say I have a very long days work and commute and have about an hour before turning out the light to watch a show or two of the Bates And I live for the weekend to be able to relax and this is my top choice of shows to watch.. like my own little reward when I relax at the end of a long day/week! I hope their show is never cancelled!

  8. Does anyone know when these new episodes will be available online? I don’t get The Up TV Channel on tv.

  9. Its not unfair for Chaney/family to be on episode of this show. She knew what she was getting into. So why does this bother everyone? She is a adult. Ledabeth( we have all gone thru yung love)

    1. @7:13, ITA but BUB should finish the season the end of the relationship. Why start a new season with this? We can see the end and Katie courtship begin.

    2. @7:13-yes, Cheney knee what she signed up for and, yes, we have gone through “young love”. However, she probably did not expect to break up and have her happy moments televised! Our young love break ups stayed fairly private and we did not endure knowing the still together moments were televised months later!!! Remember. Cheney May be over 18; but she’s still young and has feelings.

    3. Chaney and her family are probably getting paid each time an episode airs with them in it. That might be the reason they don't seem to mind the episodes showing them.

  10. I'm adding this comment to my comment above because somebody referenced is there anything to be brokenhearted about did they have a serious relationship.. season 9 episode 5 that originally played on April 2nd 2020 was played this morning, as I said above they did profess their love for each other and Chaney even said at the end I've been waiting 9 months for this!
