Ice Cream with the Websters

Ice cream in Florida with the Websters

What's a Bates gathering without ice cream? In this web exclusive video, Gil and Kelly Bates travel down to Florida to spend time with Alyssa and John Webster and the girls. While they are there, the Websters take them out for ice cream at Scoops in Winter Garden. Anyone ever been?

  1. What a sweet family the Websters are. God bless them.

    1. She certainly looks lovely, but she would look beautiful in whatever she chooses to wear. Sometimes, a dress is easier to throw on than other options. I bet she is more comfortable in the warm Florida sun with a summery dress on. =)

    2. That burgundy color definitely looks good on her!

    3. She and the girls all look beautiful.

    4. ALyssa continues to wear dresses or skirts when she is in her parent's presence. She explained that since it is really her mom and dad's TV show, she feels she should honor their wishes by wearing dresses when at their home or when the crew is filming.

    5. Maybe they were planning to take family photos that day or they'd been to a nice restaurant prior to the ice cream, and she wanted to be wearing something other than shorts and a T shirt. You fill in the blank: Maybe they__________.

    6. It was a Sunday. They mentioned being in church that Sunday on the show.

    7. I guess that's what you do if there's a camera crew around :)

  3. I really think Whitney can give birth to her third without her mother-in-law at her side. Enjoy your visit to Florida and pay some attention to those little girls that you hardly see.

    1. I agree. What about Whitney’s OWN mother? I like Kelly, but It seems like she never even mentions or acknowledges her children’s in laws. With all her children that live so close to her perhaps she could share her kids a little more with their in laws. She never even mentions them in ANY of the clips .

    2. 12:45 PM. MO- I totally agree with you! :o)

    3. That must be a hard call to make! Maybe Whitney really wanted her there? Or maybe Kelly just couldn't make herself miss the birth.

    4. I think this dialogue was planned for filming purposes. Even if Whitney would have gone into labor, there likely wouldn’t be enough time to rebook a flight to get home in time for the birth. Simply not practical.

    5. I always like the way Tory and Bobby were forced to do their latest delivery due to the pandemic. Just the two of them. And Alyssa and John always wait until after the delivery to let everyone know. But that's just me and I know the Bates do things differently.

  6. I felt bad for Alyssa. Kelly Jo should spend time with her daughter and let Whitney own family especially her mom attend the birth of Khole. This is Whitney's third birth and I think Kelly Jo should sit down, spend time with Alyssa who lives in FL and let Whitney own mother be there for her.

Is this what happens when you marry into the family? Your own family can not attend the birth of your own child? We all know that not everyone can attend but goodness.

    1. Or, Whitney can give birth with just her husband present. That’s what the majority of couples do anyway.

    2. In my family the husband is the only family member present when the mother gives birth. The rest of the family visits them in the hospital or their house when they come back.

    3. But the show has said that Whitney was estranged from her mother and had a foster mother. It is possible she is close now to one or both of those women and it is also possible that she has very little contact with either of them.

    4. They've shown Whitney's mom at other births.

    5. I have a hunch this dialogue was scripted. I doubt they would have had time to cut their trip short and make it back in time for the birth.

    6. Perhaps I missed something- when was it exactly, that inlaws were not allowed to attend the birth of their own grandchildren? If some of them are not on camera, maybe that's because they don't want to be filmed. Kelly is a very involved mom and mother-in-law, but she does't strike me a someone who would purposely shut out anyone.

    7. I think when you marry into this reality show family that your births have to be filmed. Somehow TLC thinks everyone is sitting around dying to see yet another birth, but they are wrong. I for one have had enough of watching mom after mom having a baby. Enough Already!!!

    8. 11:42, The Bates are on UP TV, not TLC.

    9. Anon @ 11:42 Alyssa doesn't allow her births to be filmed and Gil and Kelly are only allowed to come into the room after the actual delivery. Now with the virus situation, many hospitals are only allowing the father to be present and no visitors, which is what I think happened recently with Tori and Bobby. Of course these episodes were filmed before the threat began but hopefully G & K will honor that if the threat continues throughout other pregnancies.

  8. Kelly Jo is hardly paying attention to those little girls. I wonder how that makes Alyssa feel? It's all about Whitney's new baby.

    1. I think that is one of the many drawbacks of big families. Not everybody gets grandma’s full attention.

    2. One little clip doesn't tell the whole story. We don't know how much attention Kelly paid to the girls the whole rest of the time there.

    3. I don’t take these brief snippets too seriously.

    4. She is talking to Alyssa. How do you think that makes Alyssa feel?

      Delete
    5. 5:20, why does Kelly have to give the girls 100% of her attention while she's there? She is there to see John and Alyssa too.

      Delete
    6. @8:09, well she wasn't giving John and Alyssa any attention either.

    7. 9:41, she and Alyssa were having a conversation.

    8. 9:41, if you watch the episode, you'll see them doing crafts with the kids, going on a picnic, and talking. They spent time with all of them. Did you not watch it?

  9. A bath? Just wipe her face.

  10. So her biggest fear about visiting her daughter and granddaughters that she barely sees is her daughter in law going into labor? What a horrible thing to say, you could see the sadness in Alyssa’s eyes when she said that.

  11. The Websters live in Clermont, FL. NW of Orlando about 30 minutes or less.

  12. Why do you guys just lay off this family? Why do so many of you feel the need to start something where there is nothing to be mad about. Worry about you and stop trying to get this family to fight on tv!

  13. I wish Kelly would get rid of the denim skirts. Not attractive. Alyssa wears dresses when her parents are around. Respecting them

    1. You know she is going to be wearing a skirt. What kind of skirt do you recommend? Maybe she's comfortable.

    2. @5:59, what’s wrong with Kelly wearing a denim skirt? If that’s her personal style then she shouldn’t be judged.

  14. My wife and I love the show and watch taped episode's every night on our DVR. The whole family is so down to earth and you can tell they have been raised with the Lord in their lives. Thank you for such a wonderful family wholesome show.

  16. Wow, people. It was *one* conversation while the girls were busy eating. I'm sure they had lots of non-Whitney conversations and lots of quality granddaughter interaction time while they were in Florida. In this family (like most), a birth is a momentous event and most grandparents would hate to miss it--either the birth itself or being available to meet the baby ASAP and be a support for the young family. All families operate differently but with a family that big they probably just get used to everyone being more overbearing than you might be used to. Certain cultures seem to be like that, too. Just because in-law families aren't shown, it doesn't mean they're not there. The show is primarily about the Bates so of course births will focus on their family's presence there. Perhaps the in-laws themselves prefer to keep their hospital interactions private. I'm sure none of the birthing moms have to do anything they don't want when they're in labor, and with Kelly Jo's extensive birthing experience, it seems most prefer to have her there as a reference and support system since they know she's been through it so much. Also, in this case, Whitney's family past seems a bit complicated so maybe that impacts who she prefers to have present.

  17. Maybe someone can answer a question for me: I see pictures of these lovely little girls in pretty dresses and dress shoes, seemingly without socks. When I was a little girl, growing up in Chicago, I remember trying to wear my dress shoes without socks and my feet became so sweaty they stuck to the inside of my shoes, a most uncomfortable feeling. Question: are shoes made differently nowadays so one's feet stay dry? Maybe they are wearing very low-cut invisible socks? Maybe Alyssa puts powder in their shoes to keep their feet dry? I'm just asking a question; there's no need to chastise me. I just wish I could have worn my dress shoes without socks. I like the appearance of that.
Again, they are a beautiful family.
Thank you. I look forward to helpful replies, not criticism.

    1. @12:20; From my personal experience it all depends on the person and their type of feet. I don’t need to wear socks and my feet are fine, whereas most of my girls prefer to wear short (see through) nylon socks. Hope this helps:)

  18. I completely agree about wearing shoes without socks. Awful. Yes, my feet would stick to the shoe and I would develop blisters from the friction from walking. My shoes and feet smelled badly too. Never did it again.
