Cheating Bates?

Josie Bates weddings shower

Chad Paine: "You cheated, didn't you?"
Erin Paine: "Who told you that?"

Chad: "You said you did."
Erin: "Not on camera I don't say that."

At Josie Bates' wedding shower, Kelly hosts a "sniff the tea bag" game. But Carlin, Whitney, and Erin come up with a strategy that is a little suspect.

  1. Um...not really finding this funny. It’s the “not on camera” thing. Gives a bad vibe of what else do they lie about that they just don’t put on camera.

    1. But then she admitted it on camera, right?

    2. You do realize that this is a reality show right? So if the camera misses something, the Bates will have to do it again. And change what they said and how they did it. I wouldn’t be surprised if the show was lightly scripted...most reality show are.

    3. I can see anyone of the Bates saying that as a joke. I didn't think it was bad.

    4. The whole thing at the shower was on camera and she probably knew that. I think it was a halfway joke that she doesn't say that on camera. Of course she's human. But honestly? I wouldn't call that cheating really. Especially since her Mom figured it out. There was no lie involved. She used a strategy that was legitimately available to her. If she calls that cheating I give her credit for that.

    5. Oh. So have you never lied?

    6. Honestly, I think it's just human nature. Nobody likes to admit their wrong doings in front of others... Especially when they feel guilty about it. And I'm sure that the reason she was embarrassed was because she knew she was wrong.

  2. OK. I know this probably won’t get posted, but I’m struggling with this one. I have a sense of humor and I get silly antics at a shower. Like the game Clue. Sometimes you win just by ruling out what everyone else got wrong. No biggie. But the way Erin said “not on camera I don’t say that” about cheating just sounded really deceptive.

  3. Does Erin teach her children it’s OK to cheat as long as it’s not on camera?

    1. I agree. You could tell Erin was upset at Chad for calling her out about cheating..on camera..not for actually cheating. I know there will be a lot on here defending it..telling people to lighten up..it was just a game. Yes, that’s true. But cheating is a form of lying. I guess Erin is OK with that as long as she is not caught publicly.

    2. I was taught if someone is a cheat in small things they will be a cheat in big things.

    3. No serious crime was committed. Party game antics. That's all.

    4. @1:24- have you seen Erin cheating in any big things? It was just a game... And I think based on the competitive spirit of the family she was just kidding

    5. No its not Cheating is not a form of lying.

    6. It wasn't really cheating. Her mom made the rule that it was allowed to say that the answer was wrong.

    7. @1:21 I'm sure Erin is not okay with lying. She probably felt bad about it. But again, no one is perfect and everyone makes mistakes.

    8. I doubt Erin would cheat about big things on camera. Remember, the Bates know when they are on camera! They put on nice clothes and makeup. This is not a hidden camera recording them anonymously.

  6. I don't think Erin meant no harm. Nobody is perfect but Jesus Christ.

  7. You could tell she was just playing. It was all in good fun. They were clearly having a good time with it all. It made me laugh

  8. I thought it was funny. Party games are meant to be fun. She didn't commit a crime. In today's crazy world it's good to lighten up a little and enjoy a little party game.

  9. How is that even cheating? Sounds like if it wasn’t OK to play that way, Kelly Jo should have changed the rules accordingly. To me, the girls were playing creatively.

  10. I think Carlin, Whitney, Josie and Erin were just having fun. They weren't "cheating", they were just using a different strategy to get the job done. It was all in good fun. Hilarious!

  11. They would be disqualified. No cheating play fair.

  12. I don’t really think that was cheating. They were just using the rules of the game to figure it out. Kelly didn’t have to tell them if they were right or wrong.

  13. From the short clip that I saw, it appeared that Erin was using strategy, although I don't know what the rules we're for this game.

  14. I feel a bit uneasy about this as I did with the practical jokes episode. It illustrates the fierce competitive nature some of the family members have. I hope Erin is not the "do anything to win" type of person.

  15. Lol, that was funny. It wasn't cheating or being sneaky.

  16. Sometimes in games people cheat no one is perfect Except God

  17. Some people are just good at finding “loop holes”. Didn’t Erin prepare her veggies Ahead of time and bring them to the Baking Contest ready to go...

  18. That's not cheating. Its just being smart.
