Keilens in D.C.

Just one month short of two years ago, Brandon Keilen proposed to Michael Bates in Great Falls, Virginia, following a perfectly planned scavenger hunt through Washington D.C. The iconic D.C. cherry blossoms were in full bloom, which made a beautiful backdrop for photos.

This weekend, Brandon surprised Michael with a surprise trip to the East Coast to relive their engagement moments. They visited the cherry blossoms, which started blooming just in time for their arrival.

They also stopped by the exact spot where Brandon proposed in April 2015.

  1. I think it's wonderful these couples nurture their marriages. But, I don't understand always re-living and recreating marriage proposals all the time. Life is organic. It's in constant motion moving forward.

    1. But that doesn't mean we can't look back and reminisce about the past. Sometimes in the busyness and mundane details of life, we lose the romance, and it's special to remember how it used to be in order to inspire ourselves to bring back the romance. I thought it was incredibly sweet of Brandon to plan that trip for her. My husband didn't propose in a very exciting place, but I'd totally be up for a visit back to the place where we got married and where we honeymooned.

  5. I always loved that Michaela and Brandon gave beautiful, full hugs all throughout their courtship, rather than just side hugs.

  7. I agree with DEE, but this show is a small part of their life -
"We" only see tiny pieces of it.
But - I will comment on the fact we do not see equal parts of each child. Carlin is always front and center - that is her personality, Katie is in the background as are the little girls.
That might we via the editors.

  8. To anonymous...is this the same anonymous who has snarky comments all the time about this family....so life is moving forward...so you can't reminisce about Anything? Wow feel sorry for you if you don't look back in life and appreciate where you've been and enjoy where God has now brought you.this couple had one of the most creative and romantic proposals that I have ever seen no wonder they wanted to visit the spot where it happened.

    1. 12:16 responded to 6:42 with a very diplomatic comment. It can be done. (I didn't think the original post was snarky in the least. It was just an opinion.)

    2. Thank you 10:21. I am the original poster, and I don't know what snarky poster 11:57 was referring to..there is more than one on these blogs! I started by saying how wonderful it is these couples nurture their marriages---how is that snarky? I sincerely do not understand re-creating past events as they are indeed in the past. It seems to be very important to these couples to re-create proposals and vows and looking at wedding photos etc. . I am a very fluid "life is always moving forward" person. I like to create new memories and new adventures. I am a runner and every year ( I'm 50) on my birthday I take stock of what I did and accomplished that year, and then plan how to move forward. Go faster. Go farther. See new sights. Try a new yoga class ( because at 50 the joints sometimes like to play remember when!). So truly my mindset isn't looking backward, but forward.
