Unity Tree?

"I really think that this plant is really important. It does need to survive, if this is like your unity plant. I mean, it's not a good sign if it dies really soon. So you'd better water it."
-Erin Paine

When it comes to the unity ceremony at a wedding, there are a lot of options. You can light a candle, pour sand, tie a braid or knot, take Communion, wash each other's feet...and the list goes on. During their wedding, Carlin and Evan chose to plant a tree (video below).

  1. We had communion and lit a unity candle at our wedding. I've only been to a Biblical foot washing ceremony once and believe me it was very humbling. I haven't been to a wedding yet where the couple incorporated foot washing in their wedding.
Planting a tree is different but I like the idea.

  4. I don't think that is a tree. Looks like a rose bush to me.

  5. It's strange the way Erin looks happy and well-rested and Chad looks so thin and exhausted. Does she notice this?

    1. Chad looks unwell. Maybe Erin should let him rest! I'm sure he'd like a break from the babymaking, too.

    2. Look at the most recent pictures from Holland's birth. He looks fine there.

  7. I love the idea but unity tree. That's really neat. Yes it is so true: when we are rooted and grounded in the love of God, family, and community, only then can we truly love another person in marriage. That's the way it should be. When you don't know the love of a family and community you really can't function well in the marriage.
