It's a Girl!

The entire Bates clan is looking forward to welcoming the second Bates grandchild into their rapidly growing family on April 10th. Alyssa (Bates) Webster is 28 weeks and 2 days pregnant. She and husband John are thrilled to announce the gender and name of their future little one. It's a girl, and her name will be Allie Jane Webster. The couple is register at Target and Babies "R" Us.

There's no doubt that Mama Jane, Alyssa's paternal grandmother, is thrilled about the name of her future great-grandchild!

    2. Most in the mainstream medical community consider small amounts of coffee a day during pregnancy to be safe, especially in the last 2 trimesters. It's really her businesses if she drinks coffee and I'm sure her very experienced mother and her medical care provider have advised her.

    3. I've never heared that you should not drink coffee during pregnancy. I just know a girl who couldn't stand the taste and smell of coffee anymore when she was pregnant :).

    4. Totally think Erin and Chad are pregnant! I hope so... I know they want a baby. If not, I hope they adopt. There are tons of children that need a loving home.

    1. There is a photo of Alyssa online, taken a few months ago with the Webster family, and she is wearing JEANS!

    2. There is a picture of the Webster family doing what looks like some campaigning, and Alyssa, clear as day is wearing jeans with knee high noots. It was the saddest day ever concerning this family (in my mind as a fan.) If one of these "super children" can forsake their upbringing so publicly, it must be a faulty system.

    3. Do you know where I'd find that picture? (I'm just curious; think it's fine that she is wearing pants)

    4. The Bible doesn't actually say that women shouldn't wear pants. It simply states that a woman should not wear a man's garment (Deuteronomy 22:5). I interpret this verse to mean that cross dressing is wrong. I see nothing wrong with a woman wearing pants as long as they are modest and designed for women.

    5. Wearing jeans is not a sign of holiness. She has a heart for God which is evident. Many godly women wear pants. Sometimes I wear dresses and skirts, sometimes I wear pants, I'm always a witness for God and love Him.

    1. I was wondering the same thing. Allie could quite conceivably be a diminutive of Alyssa. It's also her sister's name minus the first letter, so I wonder if there is some sort of significance there.

  13. I'm so disappointed in Alyssa's dress standards now. I'm nearly in tears. Alyssa you knew the world is watching you to see what you would do.... I say in kindness to go listen to your Dad's sermon on you tube listed under 8 peas in a pod by Gill Bates. It's so so powerful and convicting. Blessings and prayers!

    1. I can't believe that in 2015 there are still people who find it scandalous that women wear pants. Thought the "pants revoulution" was sometime in the 1960s...

    2. I personally believe Alyssa is still dressing modestly. She is a grown adult making her own decisions. She respectfully obeyed her parents rules while living under their roof. If her husband is ok with what she wears and she feels her intentions are pure and right I say ROCK ON GIRL!

  14. It' a cute name! But I'm still a little bit surprised because there are already a few similar ones in the family (Ellie, Callie, Kelly).

  21. I honestly do not understand why people are so upset about how she chooses to dress. It is her choice, and I don't see how jeans are in any way immodest.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I don't think that wearing pants or only wearing dresses make you a Christian. In Jesus's time the men wore tunics and they wear pants now. It's what is in your heart, not what is on your body, as long as it is modest. Show me where wearing pants is a sin.

  26. It's sad to see several comments on here basically condemning Alyssa for her clothing choices. Christians are saved by their FAITH not by what we wear, or anything else external. Certainly a woman's dress can be a reflection of her heart, but it is NOT necessarily a reflection of her stance before Christ (saved vs unsaved). If you are "close to tears" or thinking that somehow Alyssa's upbringing has been all for naught just because she wears jeans or sleeveless shirts, then I would respectfully say that you don't have an understanding of the Gospel and salvation. I'm glad to know that Alyssa's parents recognize that their children's convictions on secondary matters can be different than their own, and yet they can still love Jesus with all their lives and be true Christians!

    1. And I would respectfully say that neither do you understand the gospel and salvation. Your judging someone and totally misinterpretation of the comments is not Christ like at all. No one but God knows the hearts of each commenter . Let us all strive to live more Christ like!

  31. A good rule of thumb is to respect the religous beliefs of others. I'm writing this post especially for any commenters here who would be critical of the way that Kelly Jo and Gil Bates would choose to bring up their family and those who have criticisms of them and their religious beliefs-- I would hope you can see how it could be best to follow the rule of thumb above. There's room in this world for your beliefs and the beliefs of Gil and Kelly Jo with the way they raise their children. You can be right. They can be right. No one has to be wrong. Thank you.

  32. I be live that a woman is not defined by her clothes as long as it's proper and not distasteful or with words or photo with rude or vaguer expressing on them, For me being a women is loving God, Family and my country, I was taught at a young age to cook, clean and sew, I'm also a C.N.A ( Certified Nurse Aid)which I love doing, but. I put my outside 0n the back burner so to speak. So I could be at home for my family, my clothes does not make me feel less of what God made me. As for myself I do feel better in a dress or skirt, and I like looking nicer for my husband. To me God sees the heart and soul not the garment, God bless... for life is to short to judge others just be what god calls you to be as when I'm not sure of were my roll is I go back to the bible passage I had for my wedding in the Book of Ruth Ch.1 vs 16 & 17. and remember my roll an bless God made me such as I'am.
