Erin--23 Weeks with Baby #4

Erin Paine
23 weeks, 3 days pregnant with Holland Grace Paine

Doesn't it feel like just yesterday when Erin and Chad Paine announced the gender of their first child, Carson Paine, to the Bates family with a gender reveal cake? Now, more than four years later, Erin is past the halfway mark in her fourth pregnancy. Holland Paine is due at the end of December, which means that Erin is almost 24 weeks along. For fun, we have included a photo of Erin's bump now (above) and her 23-week bump with Brooklyn (below).

  1. I feel bad that Erin has to have an injection every day of her pregnancy for 4 pregnancies now. That has to take a toll on her

    1. I had to take 3 a day. You get used to it.

    2. It must be rough to have injections but she chooses to have babies. They are not forced on her.

    3. Four pregnancies in four years would take a toll on anyone, let alone high risk pregnancies like hers. I wonder why she doesn't space them better?

    4. I know it’s terrible, but my mom had to do the same thing due to her blood clotting disorder.

    5. i know! it sure goes to show what great lengths we'll go to for our children! she's such an awesome mom

    6. Im sure it does take a toll on Erine but verses the alternative I'm sure she doesnt mind.

    7. I don’t feel bad she chose to do this.

    8. What do you mean?

    9. That would get tiresome, but maybe she's just thankful that the shots enable her to have her babies.

    10. It’s no different than someone with diabetes having to take shots everyday. You get used to it.

    11. I don't have the same religious beliefs as them at all (like not believing in birth control and having as many kids as God allows) but I still want 4-5 kids. If I found out I had the same disorder as Erin, I would gladly take the shots everyday to have children. Not everyone freaks out about needles, and after regularly giving yourself injections you do really get used to it. I give myself allergy shots every other day and at first it was intimidating, but it's second nature now. I barely feel it.

    12. If it were too difficult for her, there's always birth control in one form or another. No one is forcing her to have children against her will.

  2. I’m a diabetic and have to take multiple injections everyday. You get used to it, it’s not as bad as people think it is. Mind over matter, you do what you have to and think about it....she gets a sweet baby in the end πŸ˜€

  3. Erin looks so sweet in her 24th week baby bump photo. I can’t believe she is already half way through her 4th pregnancy. I know her 3 other children are so excited about their new sister Holland Graces arrival. I know I am. God Bless her with good health and happiness ❤️

    1. No, too many for YOU close together. People can live their lives the way they want to, and as long as Erin’s doctor doesn’t advise that they slow down on children there is no reason for her not to be having them.

    2. Doctors recommend against rapid-fire pregnancies like Erin’s. Look in the medical literature

    2. Why would they do that? If Michael wants a child she can adopt one.

      Delete
    3. Are you suggesting someone get pregnant and give their baby to Michael, solely because they already have some babies of their own to keep? Please tell me that isn’t what you’re saying.

      Delete
    4. I agree. I feel so sad for her as her sisters keep popping out babies!

    5. 6:03- I think the OP is suggesting surrogacy, so that the Keilens could possibly have a biological child. That would be a lot to ask of anybody.

      Delete
    6. I'm not sure if their religion supports surrogacy or not, even if the egg is from her and his specimen, sometimes family members are carriers only but the child would still be 100% theirs. Its been done before. What ever they decide for themselves is what is best for themπŸ™πŸΌπŸ’—

    7. Micheala could be a Mother by now if she chose to be. Pregnancy is more important in this culture than actual parenting. I know. I was surrounded by it. My husband and I decided being parents is what we wanted so much more than ultrasound pictures and bragging how many times we conceive in as many years. When my husband and I adopted we were actually told by our church family we didn’t have enough faith to believe God for our “own” children. I assure you they are our own children whom the Lord gave us to make me a joyful Mother of children and my husbands arrows full.

    8. Amen! It interests me that there has not been a single adoption between the Bates and the Duggars, for all their talk about it. God's commandment to help the orphans is not as important as modest dresses, I guess.

      Delete
    9. @8:23- Any church that would say such a thing does not qualify as being any kind of "family."

    10. I agree the sisthers should help Michael and give her a child. They have so many.

  14. The Paine family is truely blessed since they have had some miss fortunes early early on with her pregnancy. Number four wow this is God’s blessing for such an amazing family

    1. Unknown- If God is blessing them now with number four for being so amazing, what happened when Erin miscarried multiple times? Were they not amazing then and didn't deserve to be blessed? I really don't think God is picking winners and losers. We are all at the mercy of time, chance, and at times our own choices. The proof of that is in the fact that so many undeserving people are "blessed" with children who are unfit to parent them.

  22. Any mother would gladly endure daily injections for the health of her child. Many people take daily injections for life. It is a simple fact of life. Well worth quality of life.

    1. Why do we have to bring Michale up everytime one of the other girl’s pregnancies is mentioned? As of now Michael can not have children, she may never be able to have any, and that’s just how life goes sometime. If she and Brandon are desperate for children they can adopt.

    2. She's going to nursing school. I think that's a great opportunity for her!

      Delete
    3. @4:57, I agree that people should stop commenting about how sorry they are for Michaela. Chances are she's moving on and so should fans. I do not agree with your rather dismissive last sentence about if they're so desperate, they should adopt. I'm an adoptive mother of two and I think there's a misconception that adoption is the solution for all infertile couples. We have to remember that adoption is the one relationship that is brought about by significant loss- by the birth mother, the child who is given up, and the adoptive parents who have experienced infertility. The needs of the child must come first in this triangle. If having biological children is a strong priority for a couple, then using adoption as simply a back up plan is not in the best interests of the adoptee. That child will grow up at risk for not only feeling abandoned by his/her birth mother, but also feeling like a consolation prize for the adoptive parents. Anyone contemplating adoption should read, "The Primal Wound", by Nancy Verrier. They should also receive pre and post adoption counselling from a licensed professional who specializes in this field. No matter how wonderful a home is in which a child is placed, that same child may very well have inexplicable deep feelings of being disconnected, lost, and abandoned. Biological bonds are very strong and it's foolhardy to minimize this. My son has done well, but my daughter has had significant struggles about being adopted. I remember well how my aunt agonized over her firstborn she placed for adoption. She grieved until her dying day.

    4. 5:27, I am well awear of this, as I have multiple adopted family memebers. I personally don’t see adoption as a “solution” to infertility, but recognize that adoption is an amazing way to grow your family, that does however come with many ups and downs. Michael and Brandon seem to me however like they would be the type of parents to walk alongside their child as they cope with the tramatic parts that can come with being adopted, and figuring out how that effects their child, so in the future if they do decide to adopt, I think that would be an amazing choice for them. My use of the word “desperate” was out of place though, and I used it more out of frustration with all the comments wailing over the couples infertility, then out of how I think Michael and Brandon are actually doing.

    6. I don't see anything modest about the Bates lately.

    7. @12:40PM--I have had the same thoughts on their modesty. The first thing you notice now is how their clothing clings to all parts of their body and not just when they are pregnant.

  27. Erin, as well as most mothers, will do anything to have a baby. Am I right ladies ??

    1. 12:21- If you mean most mothers will do anything to have a biological child, that depends on who you ask. I was not interested in the invasive, painful, and expensive medical procedures that were my only options for conceiving. We chose to adopt instead and looking back, we wouldn't change a thing.

    2. absolutely! and it's over before you know it so it's not really that big a deal if you really want a family

    3. Same here! We didn't consider things like IVF, which certainly might have worked in our case. There are many children in need of homes. Adoption worked best for us.

  33. It astonished me that no one noticed Addallee's hearing loss till she started school. That's what happens when you have babies back to back. Didn't anyone listen to Addie from ages 0-5? In that noisy, busy household, it seems no one noticed her speech was delayed and her hearing was poor. I wonder if early intervention could have helped her with her disability. This should show Erin that she needs to slow down. Yes, she might be able to feed and clothe many children back to back, but can she meet all of their individual needs/special needs?

    1. My grandma had two children. She didn’t notice her daughter—my mom—was almost blind until a teacher sent a note home when my mother was 8 years old, informing my grandma that her daughter was having trouble with her work.

Even doctors say parents are sometimes the last to notice these things. Children find ways of compensating for disabilities. Or parents don’t notice a big change in behavior due to the gradual nature of it.

But yeah. It must be the number of kids in a family.

      Delete
    2. Well, if Addee had been an only child they would have noticed sooner. So, yes, the number of kids is a factor

      Delete
    3. 5:51. Agreed. When the whole goal between a married couple is to have the next child at some point, whether it’s 4,8,10,etc children, those children are overlooked. If Addee has been in a real school she would have been noticed as well.

      Delete
    4. Addie is the 15th Bates child. Can you imagine the noise in that household during her early years? Plus, four new babies followed her. No one had time to notice that this one little girl wasn't hearing or speaking like all the others. It wasn't till they started to teach her to read that anyone really listened to her.

  34. Wow, I remember Erin had several miscarriages because of her blood condition, and now look, the 4th baby!! So happy for her.

  36. Erin is the first out of her siblings to have the 4th child. Two-three kids is kind of normal, but having 4 kids is not for everyone.
