Willow's Baby Dedication

Yesterday morning, Josie and Kelton Balka brought Willow before their church, Clear Springs Baptist, to be dedicated to the Lord. Some of Josie and Kelton's family members came to celebrate the occasion. Willow is 10 weeks old.

    1. She is so much like her dad now more than before, when she was born you could tell the resemblence but we thought as she grows we would see a little of her mum too,but it's obvious now she's the spitting image of her dad,he must have looked just like that wjen he was a baby.

  9. Is dedication the same as what we do in the Catholic Church (Christening)?

    1. It’s pretty much the same idea, welcoming the baby into the church. But I don’t think Christians do godfathers like Catholics do

    2. A baby dedication in a Baptist Church is more of the parents dedicating themselves to raise their children up in the ways of God and to teach them about God. The parents bring their child to the preacher and he prays over the family, that God would bless them and guide the parents in training their children.

    5. MO- SO FUNNY!! It was a typo that could have happened to anyone- Or the computer changed the word without the writer's knowledge; that has happened to most of us! Thanks for the good laugh. :o)

    6. I love chicken, and while I’ve prayed over them on my plate, I’ve never considered what a gift from God they are. I bet the Sander’s family has though. 11:29 - best response!

  18. What exactly is a baby dedication?🤔

    ReplyDelete
  19. A baby dedication is when you present your baby (with parents and grandparents and other family for support) infront of the church congregation. It's a public declaration (standing on stage wth the pastor) saying you are giving this child back to God (as this is GOd's child to begin with) and your promising to raise your child in church and to teach them according to what the Bible says. The pastor and the congregation usually usually prays over the child and parents and sometimes receive a Bible.

  22. Interesting only some family came. I would have expected everyone to come (since they don't do infant baptism)

  23. Yes they do infant baptism still. At my church they do infant baptism.
