    3. How about just "that's her brother"? Do you introduce your siblings as: this is "Jane/Joe" my biological sister/brother. Nope--it's just this is my sister or brother.

    4. I don't think she meant it in a derogatory way...

    4. So what if she did have a child? It wouldn't make Ashley any less of a perfect match for Nathan. God is the redeemer of ALL things--even Daddies if need be.

    5. I don't see a Bates ever courting someone who already has a kid.

    6. @Annonymous 7:21. Well that would be just plain sad and wrong. Plenty of lovely Christians are single mothers. If a child is conceived out of wedlock they are still God's wonderful creation--joyfully and perfectly knit in their Mother's womb. Nothing to condemn or shy away from.

    7. Did you bother to read my comment? I didn't say a child out of wedlock wasn't wonderful and I didn't say single !mothers can't be Christian. A lot of people don't want to begin a relationship with someone who already has a kid and there is nothing wrong with that. Every one has their own preference. I don't ever see a Bates courting someone with a child.

  7. That's her little brother that her parents recently adopted.

  8. My thought would be that it is a child from a missions trip of some kind. Nathan clearly said he is not ready for kids so I highly doubt she already has one.
    We just love this family!

    1. @Annonymous 8:08 pm. Why are you shouting at the bloggers? Totally uncalled for. I think Ashley is wonderful whether the child is her little brother or her own son. No matter...no need to shout and be so upset.

  12. I think it's only natural people would wonder who the child in the picture is since this is a story on Nathan and his girlfriend.

  13. I love your show, Carlin is so funny - she keeps it real. Your whole family acts like a real family and you guys have a lot of fun. I like the Duggar's, but they just didn't seem real as a family - everything was always perfect with them.
