Baby Balka #2 is a...

Kelton Balka, Willow Balka, Josie Balka

Three of the Bates couples are expecting babies due in June (Zach and Whitney Bates, Josie and Kelton Balka, and Tori and Bobby Smith). We already know that the Smiths are having a girl named Charlotte Raine Smith, and Zach and Whitney will welcome a boy named Jayden Carl Bates. But will little Willow Balka have a brother or sister? Josie and Kelton just announced, and...

It's a girl! Her name will be Hazel Sloane Balka. Josie is 21 weeks pregnant and just had her anatomy scan.

  1. Why do they announce the name before birth?

    1. Because they want to?

    2. A lot of women do that, actually.

    3. It’s a shame they didn’t check with you first to see when the best time to announce THEIR baby’s name would be πŸ™„

    4. Agree! And a real surprise would be one of them not finding out the gender!

    5. I think they announce names early to stake their claim on the name. Josie once complained that "all the good names would be taken" by her siblings, by the time she had a baby. Growing up, the sisters probably had lots of conversations about what they would name their future children.

  9. The girls sure outnumber the boys. When Whitney, Tori & Josie have their babies in June, it'll 13 granddaughters and only 5 grandsons!

    2. Hazel starts with H also,Hazel is also a plant name like Hazel and Willow, maybe they are using that theme for their daughters, what else can be used, Erica,Pansy, Ivy, Iris, lily, that would be fun.

  12. I knew it! Congratulations Josie and Kelton (and little Willow). I had a feeling it would be a another girl. Josie is bound to be another all girl momma just like older sister Alyssa. Love the name. It's old fashioned and a name not used much anymore. She's going to be named after Hazel of the 1960's show (by the same name). Any older generation followers remember that show about the maid for the Baxter family? And a TV show on TLC called "Outdaugtered" about the only all girl quints in the US has one of their quints also named Hazel. So technically it is making a comeback in our younger generation. 1. Why is Josie “bound to be a girl momma”? Tori had 2 boys first. She wasn’t “bound to be a boy momma”. She’s now having a girl. P

    2. Not quite in the "older generation" category (in my 20s), but I watched and enjoyed Hazel from the 60s! I have been called an old soul and it's true! I'm not ashamed of it one bit!

    3. 10:51, I'm a couple decades older than you, but I'm the same way. Give me a show or movie from my mom's era any time over modern ones.

    4. Well since the gender is determined by the father's contribution I guess she not bound to be any kind of momma

  18. How did they come uo with such a strange name? Hazel Sloane?

    1. Hazel has been a very popular name for the last five years, and Sloane has been for a few, I haven't heard them together though.

  19. I love the name Hazel but I don’t think it flows that well with Sloane. If I had a daughter named Hazel, I’d like to name her Hazel Grace after the character in The Fault in our Stars. I think it sounds beautiful.

    1. Hazel Grace is the name of one of the quintuplets on the TLC show "Outdaughtered".

    2. 12:42 - Danielle (the quints’ mom) actually named her Hazel Grace after the character in TFIOS

  21. For all those being passive aggressive by stating they love the name Sloan. Stop being rude. Her name is Hazel. Hazel Sloan. Not Sloan.

    1. I don't see what the problem is with people stating that they like her middle name? By the way, it's spelled Sloane not Sloan.

    2. Maybe they are, and maybe they love the name Sloan and want to express that.

The next one will be named Oak I think if it is a boy or Olive or Lilac for a girl.
