Celebrating Alyssa and Kade

Is it really the fifth double Bates birthday of the year? Did we count that right? Well anyhow, let's go ahead and wish Kade Smith a happy 2nd birthday and Alyssa Webster a blessed 26th.

    2. Oh cool! My younger sister volunteers at our church for Patch the Pirate Club. Its every Wednesday during the school year at 7pm. We have at least 9 kids in the group right now. This is only the second year our church has done it.

  9. Alyssa seems like such a happy mom. She is so blessed to have that kind of life.

    1. She does seem very happy, I agree. But it's important to remember "that kind of life" is not for everyone and isn't essential to one's well-being or happiness. My husband and I have two grown chidren. I had a career outside the home and I can assure you that I was very content with our life choices. (And surprise- we also never attended any church!) I have single friends who are very happy with their lives and married folks with kids who are miserable.

    2. Why does a kind comment have to be offset with a lecture?

    3. What do you know I have friends that aren't married and are miserable so there you go

    4. 9:12, lol and I know plenty of miserable married people. A spouse doesn’t grant happiness

    5. @5:26 It isn't a lecture, just a different perspective about what consitutes a "happy life".

    6. 2:35, "it's important to remember" sounds a little lectury to me.

  10. Happy belated birthday Alyssa and Kade. November 9 is also my paternal grandmother's birthday. She turned 81. But unfortunately this maybe her last birthday with us because she's sick with the latter stages of Parkinson's Disease and the deadly affects of too many drugs to make her "feel" better for way too long thanks to too many dr.'s not caring about her condition etc. Its sad and she can't even take care of herself at all any more (walk, eat,go to the bathroom, bathe, even use her hands to hold a tv remote or her phone.)

  11. I just want to give a quick shout out to Alyssa...
Alyssa is one of the most amazing mothers I have ever seen. You can tell that she invests so much time and love into her daughters, and her little ladies are precious. (Lexie is her mini me for sure!)
She is a hard worker, yet as gentle as an angel. Alyssa, you are very appreciated and your girls will realize one day how blessed they were to have a mother like you. -Anonymous
