Behind-the-Scenes Look at New Opener

Are you looking forward to next Thursday's season premiere of Bringing Up Bates? Last month, we shared a video of the new show opener. If you would like a behind-the-scenes look at how it was filmed, check out the video below. The process took seven hours, but everything went fairly smoothly, even when Jackson arrived with an injury that had landed him the hospital the day before.

  1. That's awesome to see the side-by-side pictures of everybody!!!!

  2. The above Behind the Scenes update says the show airs at 7:00 pm
Eastern time instead of the usual 9:00 time slot. Is that correct?

    1. Glad you asked. 7:00pm is a typo by MovieGuide. You are correct--the premiere airs at 9pm ET on Thursday, March 5.

      Have a wonderful day,
      Lily and Ellie

  3. Love the Bates. Love the show. Don’t mean to be negative but I have never been a fan of this opener. I wish the kids were in birth order. Also, it’s just too long. They should have done a quick, short and sweet updated opener with all of the current Bates including grandkids. Or at least something just shorter. Disappointed they made another one of these :/

    1. I also have never understood why they didn’t put them in birth order. Michael is 2nd oldest and Alyssa is 6th.

  4. I love that they recreated the opening! So fun to see them side by side. And I enjoyed watching the behind the scenes. Thanks so much! This was great!!

  5. They should have come up with something new, it’s not bad, just, a new opening would have been more interesting

    1. Agree. I was never a big fan of the first one, so I was a little bummed that they went with it again.

    2. They definitely should have done something new. Copying the old opener exactly is boring. And it's too long.

  6. I like how they show them side-by-side in the video so you can see how much the younger ones have changed. I think it's cute!

  7. They mostly look the same. Haven't change much in five years. Erin and a few others look more matronly (in a good way!), but that's to be expected after so many pregnancies! Wonderful family.

    1. Erin has the “mom look” now for sure. And that’s good because she’s a wonderful mom!

  8. I like the side by side. They shouldn't have shown that they used Trace's body for Jackson, now I'll think that when i see the intro but still nice updates. Grandkids/spouses would have been nice in it

  9. Can i watched the bates if i live in Santa Ceuz Bolivia?

  10. I think they could've come up another original opening. I don't care for Kelly JO sticking out her tongue...

    1. I so agree . Looks so out of place for a Bates adult.

    2. In bad taste, for sure.

  12. I like the opener, but when they do all the same stunts it's hard to really see how they've changed. It would have been nice to see them do something a little different, at least stunt wise, to see how their personality has changed and not just their faces. Also, it would have been cool to have the in-laws and grandkids in too, even if just for a bit at the end. The family is growing and changing and it would be nice to see that in the opener at least a little bit. Otherwise, I think it's really fun.
