Bates Boys Take Disney

Lawson and Trace are down in Florida enjoying Disney World with friends. Some of them also stopped by to see Alyssa and John Webster, who live near Orlando. Have you ever visited Disney?

  2. So odd they don't need a chaperone.

    1. MO- I was wondering that too- Personally I don't think chaperones are required with groups of kids, but these families seem to feel they are necessary. This is a change... maybe because they are sons and not daughters? Too bad if that's the case. :o)

    2. You don't know that. One of the boys could be courting one of the girls, and the other boy and the girl's two friends could be the chaperones..

    3. The Bates "kids" chaperone each other. Trace and Lawson are both in their 20s and can hold themselves and each other accountable.

    4. The girls did not have a chaperone when they went on a triple date.

      Delete
    5. 9:30 If they are on a triple date, why would they need an extra chaperone? The two other couples would serve as the chaperones.

    6. Who are those girls, who are traveling alone with young men?

    7. There could be adults along who just aren't in the picture.

    8. Trace and Lawson are adults.

    9. Well someone is taking the picture...

  3. Do these young men hold regular, full time jobs?

    1. No. Lawson is in the music biz(no 8-5 there!) and Trace???

    2. If ppl aren't asking you for money, it's none of your business how much they have. As long as they are doing The Lord's will, which doesn't have to be approved by you, that's what matters.

    3. In a recent BUB episode, filmed several months ago, Trace said that he was working part time with the local police department. He also worked for Chad in construction during off hours from the department. Trace was deciding whether or not to undergo further training to join the department full time.

    4. Are they "doing the Lord's will"? In what way are they doing it? I see two guys at Disneyland.

I don't understand why it's wrong to ask what line of work they are in, and whether it's full time or not.

    5. Lawson does plenty over seas mission work & after storms.. Trace was pictured with Zack a while back he had on his sherriffs suit on. They do plenty off work. Just on a much needed trip to Florida!

      Delete
    6. "Overseas mission work" is not a job. Helping out after a storm is not a job either.

  10. I sure hope that those boys are in courtships with those lovely girls. I'd love for some more of the boys to get married!

  11. We took our kids to Disney when they were 7 and 10. It was the perfect age! No one needed naps, and they both enjoyed it so much. It was one of my favorite vacations we have ever taken.

  12. I took my daughter to Disney World for her 13th birthday. It was just the two of us and it was such a wonderful day for us!

  13. I like #3. The weekly comments keep me up to date and are un real time. I like the way this family raises their kids with Christian values

I just want to say happy mother's day to all the mom's. No I never went to Disney world but I see commercials of it as a kid. I remember watching a episode of family matters the characters went to Disney world.

  16. Happy Mother's Day to all of the Bates Mothers.

  17. Yes. It was not my thing at all. I'd rather go to a city or to the beach.

    1. Same here. Disney is so overrated and expensive!

    2. I like Disney, but I sure don't want to spend my whole vacay there. If I'm going anywhere near the beach I gotta be there for at least a few days.

  18. Our family went to Disney all the way from Norway spring 2015. We had such a great time!

Looks like the Bates boys are enjoying themselves too. Maybe a future courtship is in the air? 😉

  21. I know this doesn’t really have anything to do with this post, but do you know if Carlin attended her graduation at Liberty university this weekend? My sister was graduating and I attended. I saw Carlin’s name on the list of online students graduating, but I didn’t see her. Not all of the online graduates attended. I wasn’t sure if she would with the wedding coming up soon, but I was curious if she was there.

    1. I was curious too. In the last she’s said she was planning on attending graduation in person so I was surprised to not see any pictures.

    2. Probably when it came down to it, Carlin was too busy with wedding prep to make it to her graduation.

  22. I’ve visited Disney World several times. I live in CA and have been to Disneyland too many times to count. Probably won’t go again since prices are terribly high and crowds are unreal. How a family of four can afford it is a shame. FL & CA residents get some breaks on prices at certain offtimrs but it’s still pricey.

  23. Could any of these lovely young women be more than a friend to one of the Bates brothers? :)

  24. Wanted to wish all the Bates Mothers a Happy Mother's Day

  25. Well...arms around those of the opposite gender can only mean Lawson & Trace have a courtship and the last girl on the right is the chaperone!

  27. Love seeing the guys and their friends at my favorite place! We have been to Walt Disney World 26 times and will be going again in November. I love it so much that I am a travel agent specializing in Disney vacations.

  29. i live in florida and started going with my family when it first opened. and my high school had grad night there. i'm old enough to remember when they had 'tickets' to go on rides. like 'a' tickets were the main street things like shows and trolley rides and there'd be a few of each ticket. if you wanted to go on the really popular rides but didnt have enough 'e' or 'c' tickets, you could buy extras separately.
we usually only eat 1 meal there so every time we go, it's mandatory to eat at the liberty tree tavern. the absolute best yankee pot roast ever!! first thing we do is go make a reservation for whatever time is available and plan our park trip around whatever time we eat! (you can probably do it online or over the phone now) cant say i have a favorite thing to do (besides the liberty tree tavern) but each time i go, there are certain rides that i just have to go on, like' it's a small world' (i sing the song the rest of the day!) and pirates of the caribbean (nice & cool!) last time i went was 8 years ago when my son was going into the army and a lot of the rides were different just from when they were growing up. no more mr toads wild ride & 20000 leagues under the sea has been gone for quite a while but those were good rides!
i'd love to be able to go again but unfortunately ticket prices are way out of my price range now

  31. The Bates boys certainly are given far more freedom than the girls are.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Well a sad truth of the world is that girls are far more likely to be taken advantage of.

      Delete
    2. I think the Bates girls are capable of traveling to Disneyworld and staying in a hotel. Just like the boys did. It's hardly a dangerous area. Why do you think the girls would be taken advantage of there?

      Delete
    3. @9:59, That's a myth that people use to scare women into submission. The crime statistics data shows that women are no more likely to be victimized.

    4. I think the amount of independence depends on the individual. Michaela traveled out of state to surprise Brandon without a family member present prior to their engagement. This was right before Brandon graduated from school and he was shocked that she was able to keep the secret from him. They made sure to tell the audience that Michaela was meeting a friend there as a chaperone and would be staying with family friends.

  32. I don't think the girls would have been allowed to travel somewhere with three young men.

    1. Maybe there's an older adult behind the camera.

      Delete
    2. The girls certainly look capable of driving themselves to Disney. They may have just met up there. The whole point of a chaperone is not to be alone with the person you are dating/courting. With six people, no one was alone even if they did ride together.

      Delete
    3. They are adults, not kids. Why couldn't they travel alone or with others?

      Delete
  33. Awesome! Hopefully they're having a super fun time! I went to Disneyworld in December and it was the most fun ever!!

  34. We went to Disney this year. Crazy expensive. We were 5 adults and 2 young children, and it was $1,200 for one day. Food was incredibly expensive...an iced coffee and bacon on a stick was $23. We were last there in 2001, and this year's visit will probably be our last.

    Replies
    1. Who's, that's crazy! Confirms my opinion that I don't want to bother going there.

  36. Nice to see the guys doing a vacation together. Did the chaperone take the picture?
I work at a different park so yes, I've been to Disney world.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Would the Bates girls have been allowed to travel to Disney with two young men?
