Katie and Travis' Future Home

Only three months to go until Katie Bates marries Travis Clark! Trips to New Jersey have been filled with renovation projects and home design shopping. Travis purchased a ranch-style house for his bride-to-be and, with tons of help from family, has been fixing it up. He had to completely gut the inside and is now working on transforming the outside. Isn't it gorgeous?

Meanwhile, in Tennessee, Zach and Whitney Bates are working on a major home renovation of their own.

  2. I don’t think gorgeous accurately describes it at this point in the renovations. JMO

    1. I have to agree. Lovely, very nice, cute; but not gorgeous. It will be beautiful for them, though. It’s their first house together.

    2. That’s why authors said renovations still on going on the outside 😊.
Inside could be done and gorgeous. Be kind, please. So many hostile opinions. We’re all entitled to our home desires but if they selected it, and make it their own, it works for them.

Honestly, I think the new (young) happy could would be happy in a tent, but as a fixer upper/first home experience, it’s perfect for them and builds character when you make it your own.

Best of luck to them and hope they’ll share before and after pictures.

    3. Great starter home! I’m curious if they are renovating it; where’s the walk to the front door and a drive way??? Kind of looks like it may have been a shed type of building at one time?

    4. 8:10, biggest shed I've ever seen. It looks like a small house to me. Not every house has a walkway, but maybe that's on their to-do list.

    5. 8:10, I'm guessing they'll put a walkway in - when it rains it's not so much fun to walk across the lawn to get to the door.

  3. That’s so exciting for them! I’m glad they are able to purchase a home. Kim

  4. Thats nice. Good to see these young folks be financially decent and possibly good credit to get homes right away. (Credit of course i dont know for sure is good) They were taught and raised good. In my family, i was just taught basic things for money.

    1. You were lucky. My parents never taught me about finances. My father drank his money. We never even had an allowance.

  5. Congrats Katie and Travis! That's so exciting! I wish you the best marriage and last few months of engagement!

  7. She has no idea what she's in for in NJ!

    1. What is that supposed to mean? NJ is a great place. If Travis is a conservative man and he’s lived in NJ his whole life and hasn’t wanted to leave maybe it’s because he has a good life there, don’t you think?

    2. Yes, it will be quite the culture shock! There's no place like the gentle, hospitable and courteous South!(no place like home either!)
we who live here take our culture for granted that it's that way everywhere! I moved to Pennsylvania for two yrs with my husband's job and we were so happy to get back home to the South. Of course no offense intended for anybody who lives anywhere else!

    3. 10:00, my in-laws moved from the Midwest to NJ years ago and they hate it there. They would love to move if circumstances change so they can. The area is pretty and I love the beach there, but they are so tired of terrible drivers and people who are just rude.

    4. She'll be moving there in winter too! Brrrr, compared to TN.

    5. I'm 9:19. I have lived in NJ my entire life and have been to the South (particularly East TN) many times to visit family. The two places are like night and day. Women in NJ are not raised to "keep sweet" to put it mildly and many women are very career-focused. Having a baby in your early 20s in NJ is heavily looked down upon to be blunt and honest.

    6. Drive in Oregon, they are the worst tailgaters!

    7. I was thinking the same thing! Shes moving north of the Mason Dixon line! I thought from the beginning that it was a little strange he's from NJ.

    8. I live in the Midwest. I have no idea what it would be like to live in New Jersey. The South seems kind. In one year, I had two conferences in Atlanta. The people there were so hospitable. I’ve spent time in other southern places where folks were quite a mixture of personalities. There are lovely and rude people everywhere. Katie will find her fit. She has Travis’ family to help her navigate and will mostly be around like-minded people.

    9. Seattle has bad tailgaters too.

  8. Congratulations Katie and Travis on your home. So exciting. It's coming along well.
I'm glad your still filming for season 11 of Bringing UP Bates. I'm so excited and happy for the show. Natasha b

  9. Yay! I wonder what town they are in. I live in Kent county, Delaware. I wonder if they will make any more trips to Delaware. It would be so cool to meet them.

  10. That's wonderful! It's a cute place and will be a great first home for them.

  11. It is truly gorgeous! I imagine the landscaping, and a fabulous wreath on the front door, and scents of homemade cooked food when you walk inside. A lovely house will become a home for a beautiful couple! 💜

  12. From what I understand, Travis lives in an ultra conservative town in NJ. Many people there are like them..so maybe not too much of a culture shock. One thing Katie does need to drop, is that silly, clueless young woman routine. This will not serve her well when out in public conducting her private business. Grow up, girl.

    1. People in NJ will eat her alive if she keeps that up!

    2. Northern Jersey is congested; but southern Jersey is more country/suburban. There are lots of farms in that area and, of course, the gorgeous shore!

    3. I'm sure there are wonderful church families in NJ who will love Katie and she'll make friends easily.

    4. 11:01, aren't they moving to the town where he already lives? So probably she's met people at his church by now. That might help the adjustment.

  13. I have read some comments . Frankly I just shock my head in shame. One we are one nation.so the north and south thing is just nonsense. I lived all over this country. And really we are the same with just a little difference. As far as The Bates they were raised up right.Everyone of them are very smart. I saw were someone put Kate needs to get rid of her clueless act. It's not clueless it is shyness.thrust me those kids are smart. I am honored that I have been able to get a glimpse into their lives . Thank you. Please remember God and Jesus Christ is good all the time and all the time God and Jesus Christ is good. Bless you all

    1. I don't know that I'd agree with you completely. I've lived in the south, many Midwest states, and west. Some regions were more laid back, some were more uptight and polite to your face but kind of cold.

  14. I think it has the potential to be gorgeous, at least! Will we get to see a picture when it's done?

  15. There probably still working on it, I'm sure when it's done it will be beautiful.

  16. Wonder if the married Bates are going by living debt free? Are they able to outright buy their homes or do they have a mortgage like most of us do.

  17. Both Katie and Josie have painted their brick homes white and I'm interested to see what else they do to dress up the homes. I love old brick, but understand they might want to freshen up the look.

    1. It’s because white houses with black trim and dark wood accents are the fad especially with people Josie and Katie’s age.
I like the fad but I think it’s probably a little extreme and will not age well. I like the white house look too, but I feel painting brick can make it look like a cheap remodel.

  19. Congratulations so happy for them, they are a precious couple! I used to live in Lakewood New Jersey. We loved New Jersey it is so pretty there and the people were so nice!

  20. There are kind, welcoming people in all areas of the country. As newlyweds, they probably won’t even be aware of their surroundings as they will be so wrapped up in each other.
