The Future Mrs. Clark

Travis Clark and Katie Bates

Congratulations to Katie and Travis! As we announced a few hours ago, the couple is engaged. Travis proposed yesterday in a gazebo overlooking the beach in Key West Florida. He organized the trip to surprise Katie, and both sets of parents accompanied them. More details and photos can be found on the People Magazine website.

  4. my only comment is can he support her? what is the rush to get married. I think they need to wait a little longer and get jobs. what kind of job does he have to support the family.

    2. I agree with Lucy's comment. Marriage and building a family requires a strong foundation and one of those components is financial stability. Doesn't seem like the best idea to jump into marriage without a proper plan or path for making money. I too am curious how these young couples do it. It has been a major struggle for me and and my husband and we are both professionals!

    3. This family never seems so concerned with how they will support themselves! Interestingly, way back when with the Duggars; I recall JimBob stating the future husband must be debt free and able to support his family! Not sure what happened to that way of thinking!

  14. All these people traveling seemingly all the time!!! I don’t understand it during this pandemic. Any of this group totally vaccinated? Katie’s sister is still dealing with Covid-19 effects; does that even enter her family’s mind before they take off to another destination??? I’m happy for the couple; but not their choice of location!

    1. Vaccination doesn't keep you from getting or spreading Covid, so that is kind of irrelevant.

    2. 1:56 We do know that the vaccine helps to prevent serious illness from COVID in fully vaccinated people. How effective it is in preventing infection or passing it on is still a gray area. I am fully vaccinated and still take precautions. I wear a mask in public, I still have my "bubble" of people I have contact with who are also vaccinated, and I will postpone any unnecessary travel for the forseeable future.

    3. We also know that the vaccine can have serious side effects.

    4. 11:10 That is true of just about any medication. The number of serious side effects from the vaccine are very few in number. The COVID virus itself has some very frightening and long term damaging effects. My sister and her husband are both long-haulers. You have to weigh the risks vs. the benefits. I am fully vaccinated, because I believe the risk is greater if I take my chances with COVID. I have not had any side effects from Moderna, other than an itchy arm for a day or two.

    5. 3:05, side effects are one thing, but there are no long-term studies yet.

  16. How does an unemployed 20 year old afford a diamond ring? I am assuming the show paid for the trip....wow

  17. Gender reveals are pretty passe at this point. I honestly don't know why or who turned this into a mainstream event. I think it is much classier to keep the sex of the child to oneself. Understated stands apart from the common. In my day, announcing the child and their sex was done by sending an engraved birth announcement with either a pink or blue ribbon tied at the top.

    1. Exactly, I didn't know what I was having when I had either one of my babies until they were born.

    2. I love gender reveals. It's a fun thing to do while pregnant.

  18. I sincerely wish them the best. I do hope that Ketie can refrain from smashing cake in his face at the reception.....if they have cake.

    1. Amen! I absolutely detest the phase of smashing any food in someone's face; so disrespectful!!!

  19. Would they have these destination proposals if the show wasn't paying for it?

    1. Probably not, but so what? They get a dream proposal destination on TLC's dime. How nice for them.
