  1. She is lovely! I hope the family didn’t overwhelm her. I’d love to see a new daughter in law. Best wishes to them.

    1. While I agree it may be a case of a double standard for the sons and daughters of this family, mine had the same. My older brother who partied, was a prankster and risky person in general was held to a was different standard then the rest of us. Differences in dress, had no curfews, spending habits, meeting friends/parents before going out, details itinerary where you’ll be etc...amongst the list. We’re not religious in any sense, sadly, I think my folks did their best at the time, in rural
MI this was common. There’s no resentment just sad, there’s such little trust and confidence in a good kid.

For the Bates, they might feel something akin to the need to protect daughter more maybe? Also an age factor...not only gender disparities. It is what it is, we might think it weird, unfair or double standard, hopefully an epiphany occurs or they make changes when they have their own kiddos.

The girls their sons date prob follow the rules of the girl’s family. Repressing everyone too much doesn’t help anyone. While rules are in place, everyone individual has free will.

I empathize with your sadness at the unfair treatment you received growing up. In reading your description of your brother, maybe your parents thought your brother wouldn't follow their rules and decided to avoid the inevitable confrontations with their son. They didn't feel comfortable "rocking the boat" with him. It was easier for your parents to enforce their rules with their more "compliant" children.
      Just my thought/opinion.

  4. If they were married they would be living together. They’re not, Esther recently posted about him visiting her in PA

  7. I love the pic of Kelly walking behind the young couple in the parking lot. No one is near her, and even then she has her mouth open! Who is she talking to?

    1. 🙄 Esther's mouth is open too. Maybe someone out of sight was just talking to them before this was taken. What's the obsession with Kelly's mouth all about?

    2. Every picture of Kelly shows her with her mouth wide open.

    3. Probably Lawson's girlfriend, who hasn't been introduced yet!

    4. 9:13, maybe many pictures, but not "all." I'm getting tired of seeing this criticism of her.

  8. The show would be rather boring without Kelly’s input and explanations. I think she does a great job and the show wouldn’t be as good without her. I’d love to have her for a neighbor, actually the whole family!
