Season 9B Sneak Peek

Tori Smith has an ultrasound to check on Baby #2

New episodes of Bringing Up Bates are slated to return to UPtv in just one week. Set your DVR for Thursday, July 23, at 9pm ET/8pm CT. The first episode, "Roaring Bates and Pending Due Dates," will be a full hour. The summary is below, as is a clip that shows the first 30 seconds. The network will add 19 seconds to the video each day as we approach the premiere date.

Roaring Bates and Pending Due Dates: Soon to be parents Carlin and Evan lean on Erin’s decorating expertise and Chad’s handyman skills to put the finishing touches on Layla’s nursery. Now that their renovations are complete, Josie and Kelton host a housewarming party and celebrate their new business ventures with their family. Meanwhile, Trace is dealing with a broken heart; he turns to his parents and Zach for relationship advice. Later, a routine ultrasound for Carlin becomes worrisome, and she ends up in the hospital sooner than expected. Will baby Layla arrive before her due date? And the whole family gathers in Rocky Top for their annual “I Love You Day” festivities. Katie’s “friend” Travis joins the celebration. Is a courtship calling for the young couple?

  1. Haven’t we already seen Carlin’s problem with Layla in uterine and I Love You day? And more of Trace’s break up! Stop!!!

    1. Not on the show, only online.

    2. We haven’t. Last episode aired was the Christmas episode. Layla was still in Carlin’s belly and Chaney spent Christmas with the Bates so Trace was not single.

    3. Why be negative about it? If you don't enjoy the show, you can choose not to watch instead of criticizing. I don't understand why people feel the need to make unkind comments about something that isn't being forced upon them.

    4. 2:13 Because it's fun, that's why!

  2. No we haven't seen those stories yet in 9A, first half of the season which they are running now in the early mornings. This is a new I love you day as it's Travis's first to attend with Katie. If the show has gotten annoying stop watching.

  3. Tori looks so much like Kelly Jo in that picture!

  4. Why does the exciting family news never include anything about education or careers?

    1. I feel the same way. I wish the Bates children (especially the women) realized that there's more to life than marriage and babies. In my opinion, everyone should some sort of post-secondary education. Also, every woman should work regardless of whether she wants to or not, so that she could support herself and her kids just in case her husband dies or leaves her.

    2. The Bates kids actually do receive a College education unlike another family we know. Katie recently graduated Cosmetology School, I’m sure we’ll see it later in the show. Carlin also graduated liberty university last year and that was shown before her wedding.

    3. It does—the description for the upcoming episode includes a housewarming party with Kelton and Josie, which also celebrates their new business venture. Being a self-employed business owner is a career.

There has also been exciting news in the past regarding education: students graduating from high school or college, Michaela starting nursing school, Nathan completing flight training (now he’s an instructor).

The show includes a variety of life events.

    4. You mean like the episodes about their graduations, Tori's good college grades, Josie at cosmetology school, Michaella going to nursing school, Erin recording CDs, Zach graduating from police academy, the girls starting an online business? Is that what you never hear about their education or careers?

    5. This family often celebrates achievements in education. Zach from the Police Academy. Erin from a 4yr music degree with Honors, Tori from a 4yr teaching degree, Josie from an 18 month aesthetics program, Michaela will soon be graduating from an 11 month Nursing Program (and she'd already completed a college program in the past), Lawson has released a music CD, or two (and videos), Katie is in an aesthetics program now and may pursue Nursing. I've probably missed mentioning a few things, but this family believes in education. Both parents have a college education. And they have numerous business ventures that they've started, Bates Boutique, Plumbing, Electrical, carpentry... So I have no idea what you are talking about

    6. 6:33, every woman should work whether she wants to or not? Ugh.

    7. @9:53- Apparently, you didn't read the rest of the comment. A woman isn't doing herself any favors by not having any training or job experience. It's unrealistic to expect to rely on a man for support. Stuff happens: divorce, illness, job loss, death of spouse, etc. I don't think the poster was suggesting that a woman shouldn't ever stay home with the kids (or a man, for that matter!)

    8. Oh, I read the whole comment. The original commenter said that all women should work. She didn't qualify it.

  5. Curious for numerous seasons starting i think season 2 there is a young lady who is frequently there in the videos at the house but she is never spoken to or named on camera. IS there a reason we don't know who she is?

    1. Maybe because she doesn’t want to? She’s probably a friend who enjoys hanging out with them but doesn’t want to be interviewed on tv. If I was friends with them I’d do that because I’m not into giving interviews, or appearing on tv in general.

    2. My theory is that the Bates or the show's producers don't want to have to pay her. Once she takes an active role on the show, she'll need to be paid. I guess she's fine with this arrangement. It's OK for me too.
