Coming Up On Season 4...

Have you heard the big news? The Bates' hit reality TV show is returning to UP on Thursday, June 2nd! To find out what the family has in store for viewers in season four of Bringing Up Bates, read the summary below. And click here to watch select episodes from seasons one, two, and three.

In the new season, change is in the air as a lot of the kids are beginning to forge their own paths outside of the family. From new loves, to new careers and new babies, the Bates are growing up and experiencing both the highs and lows of life.

Amidst all of the change, the family is tested when patriarch, Gil, has a health scare. But through it all, the Bates persevere, and the family never falters. Led by devoted father Gil and his loving wife Kelly Jo, the Bates do everything in bulk while staying true to their values and rules for the family. But lately–as viewers will see–their simple rural lifestyle in Tennessee is in a flurry of transitions and is continually challenged by the modern world.

“Raising a family with 19 kids guarantees that life is full of adventure, and we wouldn't have it any other way,” say Gil and Kelly Bates. “In fact, each time one of them leaves the nest, we remind ourselves that before too long, they'll all be gone, and we can hardly bear the thought! Until that happens, we'll work to create memories as a family.  We're thrilled people want to come along for the ride.”

  1. Gil, whatever your health scare is, we hope that all is well and you are doing better. We will add you to our prayer list.

  2. Wish I had known about Gil's health scare sooner. I would have been praying for him!
I honestly would not get bored with this show if it were on 52 weeks a year. I can't say that about any other show. I guess if they took a month off between each season, that would be ok. 😉

    4. Sweet tea = lots of sugar

    5. Sweet tea is a great way to get a load of sugar in your diet! Even juices with no added sugar are really bad for you. You lose almost all the fiber and other good stuff of the fruits if you drink them. It's best to stick with real fruits.

  9. Your family is a gift for me. I enjoy every minute of it. I'll still say an extra prayer for Gil and the rest of you as I always do. I watch all kinds of tv but my favorite is this one. Keep up the great work. (I also wouldnt mind more episodes but I understand its gotta be hard having a camera crew around all the time)

  10. The preview paragraph seems a bit dramatic to me when it says they are challenged by the modern world. Not sure what challenges they are referring to but they seem to participate in the modern world. They seem to do just fine.

  11. Oh how I wish that my family wasn't so easily influenced by the modern world, I watch BUB and see Gil & Kelly's reaction to the girls being pregnant and so happy for them , and here I am , excited to tell my Dad I'm pregnant (4th time), a 5 year old and 2 in heaven , and he tells me before I can even get the words out that he hopes I'm not pregnant...I'm a married 27 year old with 1 kid already and he knows the pain I went through especially with my last miscarriage, no congrats, no excitement , nothing, then asked me if it's gonna interfere with us getting a house....really? forget the house ! I'm bringing life into this world ! oh how I wish how I wish more Dads were like Gil, I know he's probably a super strict guy but at least he's happy when his kids are happy. those kids are so lucky , even the ones that probably think they aren't. So lucky.

    1. My heart goes out to you! I pray that your dad's heart will soften when he sees the face of his new grandchild. No matter what anyone tells you, your baby is a special gift from God. Don't let anything get in the way of your joy and thankfulness. I have often wished that my parents were more like Gil and Kelly, but just know that God is always with you and that he gave you the parents he gave you for a reason. It sounds like your dad desperately needs someone to speak encouragement into his life right now. Maybe that someone can be you. :) Stay strong, and congratulations on your pregnancy!
