Last month, Erin and Chad Paine shared the first part of Henry Paine's birth story. His delivery was long and brutal, but there was great joy at the end of it. Now, six weeks later, they are ready to share the details of what happened next. In the three weeks that followed, Erin experienced serious complications, including a severe seizure that left her convinced that she wasn't going to survive.
But through it all, the Paines felt the peace of God, and Erin was a light to everyone who crossed her path. She and Chad say they are incredibly grateful to the doctors and nurses who worked tirelessly to give them the best care, as well as to the family and friends who supported them during their darkest hour. They are also deeply thankful to their social media family that held them up in prayer. The second part of Erin's health journey just hit YouTube. Be sure to grab a box of tissues.

DeleteI agree, and the more drama they have, the more money they make. They're also going in the wrong direction with their fancy ways and designer tastes. Growing up they had no opportunities to have anything like those, so now they must think having them really sets them above. They don't realize how wrong they are, and how it all goes against the values they claim to have as Christians. Outward appearances mean nothing. The only thing made of gold should be your heart. Actions speak louder than words.

Times of trial draw us closer to God, are lessons to be learned like relying on God, building our trust in Him, gaining patience, building our faith. We're not always promised an explanation. We just trust that God knows what He's doing and leave the results in His hands.

ReplyDeleteThe child was never in danger. Erin developed medical issues that had nothing to do with the pregnancy. It could have happened to someone with their 1st childbirth. Gall/kidney stones requiring meds and interventions that lead to undiagnosed uti, to septic shock, to her body resetting itself with a seizure that no one has an explanation for. I can't believe the number of people who come on this site and try to act like birth control is the ultimate cure because it prevents life from occurring with all of its complications! We live in a fallen world where sickness and setbacks are a part of life. Don't you appreciate the chance you were given to live and overcome all of life's struggles? And do you and the other negative commenters know that Erin is living with only 0.25 percent of her ovaries? The doctors said getting pregnant would be a 1 in a million chance (btw, birth control doesn't promise that low of odds). She has had THREE healthy babies since then. A statistician could tell you what the odds on three miracles is. God obviously wanted her to have another baby. And he gave her the grace to overcome this health struggle and share the love she experienced from her friends, family and church through this trial.
DeleteIt's not "one in a million" chance to get pregnant with less than 2 whole ovaries. Far from it. You still produce and release what you're supposed to. Someone used some hyperbole when stating that statistic to Erin, or Erin to us. Also, you can achieve birth control percentages of 99% (or fractions higher) with implants, or 100% in the case of surgical methods. A statistician could tell you all of those odds - they're basic science.
Delete@8:30 Regarding having only 1/4 of one ovary remaining, the body can adapt, and the remaining ovarian tissue takes over the function of both ovaries, potentially releasing an egg each month. Fertility depends on other factors... age and overall health. To say that Erin's pregnancy was a one in a million chance is not based on science or statistics.
DeleteBTW... this baby was at risk, as according to the Paine's video, the umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck. It's why his heart rate was elevated and the labor long and grueling. The reality is that pregnancy and childbirth pose risks to the health, life and well-being of a woman. If you already have issues, such as a blood-clotting disorder or other chronic health condition, it stands to reason that you'd weigh the risks of having more kids and potentially leaving the children you do have without their mother. Birth control does have a purpose. No woman should be made to feel like she's disappointing god if she decides to not have more kids.
The thought of God wanting a woman to have a baby is kind of scary. We're not talking about Mary here, who was given no choice. Erin knew full well what she was doing, taking all these chances with her life and with the baby's.

@1:29 If I were a good, all-powerful and all-knowing god who never makes mistakes and wants people to trust me, I wouldn't be playing hide and seek games with humanity, but would make it obvious to all of my existence. @3:12 I grew up in an evangelical church and can assure you that I've read the Bible a few times. That you assume I haven't, by directing me to certain verses, is quite condescending and patronizing. IMO, your Bible is like an ancient Rorschach Test. People read it and see or believe whatever suits them, or else they believe what someone else sees and has told them to believe. Most Christians I've known fall in the latter category.

I do find it tiresome when believers attempt to convince others that a god not only exists, but hears prayers and answers them... when things go the way you want them to. When things don't work out, well.. then it's "god works in mysterious ways" or "you didn't have enough faith."

ReplyDeleteIt was such a blessing to watch the video and see their praise and thankfulness to the Lord for His mercy, after enduring this extreme trial they just went through. What a miracle that Erin and Henry are alive and healing. It is always important for us to bring to remembrance acts of mercy that God has bestowed on us through our lives, this leaves us in a place of humbleness and praise to God. After hearing of Erin sepsis shock I prayed that God would intervene and work according to His will…as a survivor of sepsis I continue to Praise the Lord for seeing me through that dark time years ago. How precious to see Erin’s father praying at her bedside.

Felt so much peace...a light to everyone...so grateful... I'm not buying it. She had a rough delivery, was really sick, and could have died. They all were probably terrified. Can they simply tell the truth and not frame it in some Christian martyrism?
ReplyDelete@ 10:41 I refuse to believe that a sadistic God uses severe health problems to prove his "goodness" or "mercy," or as a way to deliver a "blessing" in the form of a child. That makes no sense and goes against everything Jesus supposedly stood for - showing love, not bringing misery and fear. Erin was at risk with any pregnancy, she knowingly got pregnant anyway, the baby was in danger during delivery, and she was in danger later with the infection. Medical professionals saved her and the baby (had they not intervened, God would have had his way) and that should be the lesson to all.

DeleteIt was a bit over the top. It really isn't like that when you're in the ICU. Last Spring I was in the ICU for two weeks. I don't remember much of anything that went on there. My sister and my son knew I was better when I started talking to them at the end of two weeks. Then I was transferred to a rehab hospital for another two weeks until I was well enough to go home. I don't see the narrative they put out as being very real.

Erin felt like she was going to die and the sadness of not being able to snuggle her little baby and nurse him was breaking her heart and her and Chad missed their little children at home desperately! BUT GOD!!!

He brought them through their dark trial They felt His love and care and He delivered them. They wanted to Praise their God for His mercy and healing! So it is inspiring and heartwarming and encouraging to know we have a God who hears us when we call on Him in the day of trouble. We are telling the truth! Life is hard, Jesus, said, in this world you will have tribulation, but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world! We choose to have hope and abide in our God’s loving arms. @10:46 I have a different take on this. That said, I don't doubt the Paine's sincerity and their strong beliefs and hope in a god that hears and answers prayers. And, it's a safe bet that the Paine's prayed for a safe delivery and recovery from the get-go. Instead, it was suffering and a touch-and-go situation for weeks. To give an all-powerful can-do anything god.. a god who permits the suffering... credit for recovery is like thanking your torturer for stopping the torture, IMO.

We all have a sin problem, (Romans 3:23). And the wages for our sin is death, (separation from God in hell forever), (Romans 6:23). We all chose to sin as did Adam & Eve! JESUS came to rescue us! DeleteHe took on our sin and died on the cross to pay the wages for my sin and your sin. He gives us a free will. I chose to receive His salvation HE offers. He took on my sin and gave me HIS righteousness! I was about 7 years old when I knew I needed to be saved from my sins. I am 70 years old now and I can say I have not always been faithful to Him but He has been So Faithful to me. He promises to never let me go out of His hand, (John 10:28). There are so many scriptures, I would like to share with you, but just read the book of John and ask God if He is real to reveal Himself to you. I have had a hard life but I feel so loved and He has blessed me in so many ways. I have peace and joy in spite of the hurts life has thrown at me and HE will see me through. In Isaiah 43:1, He tells me He has redeemed me, and called me by name and says to me, you are MINE!
I pray you and everyone who reads this would come to saving faith in Jesus! He loves You! ❤️🙏

I faked it for many years in order to "fit in", but I was never convinced that any god existed. And I wasn't conviced that the Bible was anything more than a product of some very active and very human imaginations that has been a source of debate, dispute and mind control down through the ages. I stopped pretending that it was something else quite some time ago. But... you do what works for you.

That is my testimony and I SO HOPE that it would be yours too, but you have the free will to reject His offer of Salvation and to perish (be separated from God forever in hell with Satan and all those who reject so GREAT a salvation). DeleteErin and Chad are believers in the gospel of Jesus Christ and the Bible that is why their lives reflect that. As James say “count it all joy when you encounter various trials..”. The off the wall comments from the unbelievers on this blog are because they have no faith and don’t believe ..not only do they not believe but they mock the word of God, sad. Praise the Lord for believers who hope is in Jesus Christ.
ReplyDeleteNon believers aren't mocking something they have no reason to believe exists. They make some interesting points. Rather than ridicule them, consider what they have to say. I'd rather be left with questions that cannot be answered, than answers that can never be questioned.
