Warden Bates married the love of his life on May 5th, less than three weeks before his 23rd birthday. As we announced on May 3rd, he proposed to Kaybrie Patterson, a college basketball player, and she said yes. The two had been planning a September wedding, but when it became clear that Kaybrie's father was nearing the end of his three-year battle with colon cancer, they changed their plans in a big way.
Just a few days before Michael Patterson passed away, the Bates and Patterson families gathered to support Warden and Kaybrie as they became husband and wife. Kaybrie's wish for her dad to walk her down the aisle was granted. They will still gather with a larger group of family and friends in September to celebrate their marriage.

Congratulations to them! Glad she got to have her father walk her down the aisle. She will always cherish that moment.
ReplyDeleteMy condolences on the loss of her father. I'm happy for her though, to have him walk her down the aisle. A very special part of her special day. I wish them all the best in their future together ❤️
ReplyDeleteShe will probably be pregnant by then. They can have a combined wedding and baby shower.
ReplyDeleteThat was my thought too. Their choice/
DeleteSo what? They get marred to have babies.
DeleteIt’s so wonderful that they did a small wedding, so her dad could be there. And that they will do a big celebration later so that everyone can be there. My daughter did a similar thing during Covid when her wedding had to be so small.
ReplyDeleteGod Bless. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🕊️
ReplyDeleteThis poor young woman. So much emotion to hold in one day… I imagine she felt immense sadness for her dad’s declining health, while simultaneously feeling great excitement and happiness in marrying Warden. Praying for Kaybrie and her family.
ReplyDeleteYikes! She’s only 19. I hope she continues with college.
ReplyDeleteWow. The nest is growing empty quickly. I wonder who will get married next.
ReplyDeleteWow,two Bates weddings in one month. Isaiah and his new wife Sarah also got married in May too. Now there is only 5 left in the Bates family that are still single and 3 of them are still under 18 years old.
ReplyDeletewhy not donate the $ to cancer research rather than spend it on for wedding ?
ReplyDeleteAgreed. Weddings are such a waste of time and money.
DeleteNo way. Who knows if that money will even make it to help anyone? Glad her dad got to be at the special wedding! There’d be memories with just a check written with none.
DeleteYou can donate money any time. A wedding is once.
