Henry Paine is almost 7 weeks old. Erin Paine took to YouTube to share the first part of Henry’s birth story. Her labor was long and brutal, and at the end of it, the medical team discovered that the cord had been wrapped around Henry’s neck twice. The video ends with Henry’s joyous arrival, and Erin plans to upload a second video that shares the complications that followed.

So thankful you survived a brutal delivery, sepsis and sepsis shock..you have been in my prayers since your sepsis struggle became public. I just wonder why the doctor and support team didn’t consider a c-section, since it sounds from the video that Henry showed signs of struggling, and he wasn’t progressing because of the cord being wrapped around his neck twice. Praying for a full recovery..you are a brave woman.
ReplyDeleteIs it normal to let a woman labor that long without intervention? It was hard to watch her struggle.
Delete2:38 No, nothing is normal about letting a woman go over 24 in labor when her longest previous labor was seven hours, especially when the mother and baby are showing elevated heartbeat as soon as being admitted to the hospital. As shown in the video Erin was having extreme contractions, at one point moving only one center meter in seven hours.
DeleteNo thanks. How about an update on Erin's recovery instead?
ReplyDeleteWHY are they making birth videos when Erin nearly died? She has a long recovery ahead and should not be creating content or be worried about anything other than raising that child and learning to walk again. Obvious attempt to make money. Very sad to see that priority. Imagine Henry in years to come seeing that video and realizing how "brutal" he was to his mother and how he might not have survived, too. Really. Come on guys. Put the camera down and find some other way to support the family you made other than exploiting your kids and exposing your personal life and medical problems. I will not watch this video and add to that.
ReplyDeleteLove your comment and agree with you.
DeleteSome of us are thankful to hear from Erin and to see her looking so well and alert after such trauma. And if she can make some money sharing with us, then good for her! They definitely need money for all those hospital and recovery bills. Just don’t even come here with your negativity. It’s not helpful in any way.
DeleteI haven't seen the whole thing yet, but what I did see was a woman thankful to be alive, expressing gratitude to the many people who prayed for them, God, her family, and her medical caregivers, wanting to share the story with people who care. If you don't fall into those categories then don't watch.
Delete10:38 absolutely..this blog is about the bates and people who are interested in them. As shown in this video, Erin continues to have a humble thankful spirit and grateful for God’s Grace in the face of death and thankfulness for all her caregivers. Erin is so genuine and even though it is difficult for her to relive many moments I’m grateful for her courage in doing so.
DeleteThey videotaped the birth before she got sepsis and consequently nearly died from that, not from the birth so not sure why anyone would think showing the birth story is s wrong…. Besides it’s up to them what they wish to share, not anyone else’s business
Delete@ 4:14 Up to them to what they wish to share and not anybody else's business? It's the "everybody else" who they want to watch these videos and create that revenue for them!
Delete9:50, it's still up to them what they want to share! They don't need our permission to include certain things or not include certain things.
DeleteErin bates Paine you and your family are in my prayers glad to hear and see some prayers are being answered I don’t know how everyone in bates family deals with the nasty comments from people online
ReplyDeleteI will continue to pray for Erin bates Paine and her family so wonderful she’s home with her loving outstanding husband and her children plus her inlaws , family the bates and friends must be so glad continued prayers to Erin and her loved ones / relatives
ReplyDeleteI think posting videos of these situations on the internet is a bad idea.
ReplyDeleteI'm not going to watch this either. It was bad enough reading the posts stating what was going on at the time. I'm grateful they were posted, don't get me wrong, we could pray for her then, but it was upsetting. I'm so very grateful she's doing better and Henry is thriving. I don't want to relive what happened, but will continue to pray for her continued recovery.
ReplyDelete2:03. I suppose as Henry grows he will realize what a miracle his survival was. Sounds so brutal to imagine Henry laboring down the birth canal with the cord wrapped around his neck, it seems like a c-section would have been appropriate. It’s amazing he didn’t have brain damage.
ReplyDeleteWe don't know for sure Henry doesn't have brain damage, do we?
DeleteI agree. They let the labor go on far too long. Erin was totally depleted by the time Henry was born and vulnerable to the infection that followed.
DeleteThe doctors dropped the ball for allowing a lengthy labor.
DeleteContinued prayers for Erin and her family. She has been through a lot to welcome this child into the world. May she continue to move forward with recovery.
ReplyDeleteErin had a medical team right there with her . You know she was being monitored . Please don't guess why they did this and that and making unture statements unless you are a Doctor it's very rude.
ReplyDelete9:24 facts are facts …Erin’s and Henry’s life’s were put into jeopardy by allowing this long, brutal labor. You don’t have to be a doctor to observe the facts, just ask women who went through the same thing and were fortunate enough to have a c-section intervention.
DeleteI totally agree 3:14. Something is amiss in this whole birth/sepsis story.
DeleteErin just wants to give a testimony of God's goodness and faithfulness.
ReplyDeleteThen you can facetime family, send private messages to friends, or share with church family. These videos are put up for money and to gain status as an influencer. Using your medical problems and your children to do that is not cool. The message gets lost.
Deleteyou're assuming a lot by saying that that's the reason.
DeleteThe message isn't lost if you watch the video. 🙄
DeleteYeah, if only family and church family know you. But many people know Erin Bates through the tv show and her social media presence, so she updated people who follow her and were praying for her.
DeleteWatching the video I was surprised to see Erin’s husband reading off the monitor at the beginning of labor.. saying that the baby’s heartbeat and Erin’s heartbeat were both elevated..and they were trying to figure out why…very surprised they allowed her to labor so long with early struggle warnings on the monitor.
ReplyDeleteI wondered why the doctor didn't insist on doing a C-section instead of letting them both sttuggle like that for so long. Very odd to say the least.
Delete3:07 you are right about that.. the most common reasons for an unplanned c-section are failure to progress and baby heart beat warning struggle. Erin had both of these issues, it is hard to believe they didn’t do a c-section.
