Bringing Up Bates "Never Before Seen on TV"
- While helping Josie pack her hospital bag, Kelly shares some wise words: "I don't want to be that mom who is wanting to push ideas or stuff on their children, so I love that we can talk and share experiences and laugh, and if I have some tips, I certainly try to give those. But at the same time, I don't want any of the kids to feel like, 'Mom's a know-it-all, and we have to do it her way' because everybody's different." Josie is very appreciative of her mom’s tips.
- Katie is in cosmetology school, and the kids weigh in on whether they trust her to cut their hair. "She cut my hair once, with tools that didn't work that great," says Isaiah.
- “I like to wait until they are fully out of school,” admits Tori. “I mean, this is a lot of hair, and long hair can look really bad if it accidentally gets messed up.”
- While Michael trusts Katie to cut her hair, the two Bates sisters have a nice chat. The other siblings agree that Michael and Katie are complete opposites. “I think everything about Michaela and Katie is different,” says Callie, candidly. “Especially their personality and their style.”
- “Katie’s sassy,” adds Brandon. “[Michaela’s] not.”
- How about similarities? “They are both very messy, very,” says Carlin.
- “They love to help people,” shares Erin.
- During a family game night at the big house, one team member draws a picture and the other teammates guess what it is. Who are the best artists in the Bates family? Michael, Erin, and Carlin.
- “We only have like 12 kids at home,” says Gil. “It’s like an empty nest around here, quiet all the time. So having everybody back to have the party get-togethers is like back in the old days.”
I have truly enjoyed and getting to know your wonderful family. I have laughed alot, cried alot with you all. You all are truly inspiring. Thanks for sharing your iOS and downs with such grace.
ReplyDeleteI really love yourself and watching it from the very beginning. I was watching some old shows earlier and loved the ones where you would ask the couples questions and they had to answer them about each other. I think we need a new updated version with the newer couples as well and Gil and Kelly.
ReplyDeleteThey don't trust Katie to cut their hair? Why not? Many of them don't have a hair 'style", they wear their hair very long and just snip off the ends. How difficult is that to do?

ReplyDeleteHard to comprehend, isn't it? I guess you get used to a certain level of noise and bustle. I have 5 kids, and with one or two gone, it just feels quieter and different.

ReplyDeleteSo this is random and has nothing to do with the post, but looking at the spacing of all the Bates grandkids, I would say that there is a good chance that Whitney, Erin, Alyssa (obviously), Tori, Carlin, and Josie will all have babies in 2021. Alyssa is already expecting, and I think Erin is as well, Josie sadly just lost a baby, but unless they try to prevent in some way she’ll probably get pregnant again quickly, Whitney’s children are spaced about 20 months apart so it would make sense for her to get pregnant again in a few months, and Tori had Kade and Kolter very close together and I think she’ll be the Kendra Duggar of the Bates family having a baby every year, and if all of her sisters are expecting I could see Carlin trying to become pregnant too. That all being said, I think 2021 will be full of pregnancies for the Bates and by 2022 there will be at least six new Bates grand babies.

DeleteI think Erin is pregnant again too, and will announce in the next 3 weeks or so, and will be due in April 2021. That's my prediction, lol!

Delete3:53 - because it’s fun! People have been speculating about Justin Duggar’s courtship for a while and he just announced today. People have also been speculating about Nathan courting and he confirmed he was seeing someone on the show. I always do predictions for the Duggars and Bates and It’s fun to know you when i’m right!
Delete3:53, why can’t people speculate? It hurts no one and I doubt the Bates sisters even read this blog. Anyways, I agree with OP that Erin could be expecting, she just had family photos done at the beach and that’s typically when she announces lol

DeleteIt's nice to watch a Christian family on tv. I am a Christian too and connect with who they are. Long hair and dresses and all.

DeleteI watch the show and for the most part I enjoy it, but two things I don’t understand......why does Kelly have to always be in the delivery room? Has it not occurred to her that this should be a private and special moment for these couples? And, in earlier episodes, Gil often mentions that the boys courting his daughters need to save for a wedding. Why is it the guys responsibility? Besides, the flowers and cake are gifted by Kelly’s sisters. Can’t he at least spring for a dress and the donation to the church? Just my thoughts. 🤷🏼♀️

DeleteShe stands outside the door and pounces on John hen he emerges with the baby. The girls do what she tells them. They don’t know any better. I have no doubt she is a great supportive Mom, but she is extremely pushy!
DeleteDo you really watch the show? The girls invite Kelly Jo to be there for the births. Alyssa is private and hasn’t asked her mom to be in the room. Kelly goes in after the baby is born. No one can force their way into a delivery room. You have to be invited. Gil and Kelly give each of their girls a specific amount for their weddings. They then have the option to spend their own money if they have more expensive taste. I haven’t heard him tell the guys to save for the weddings. It does make sense to have some savings in place to start out married life.

Delete11:03, do you watch the show? I have heard Gil say multiple times while he and Kelly are doing interview segments, that the girls boyfriends need to save for a wedding. BTW, how do you know that Gil and Kelly give each of their girls a specific amount for their weddings? Are you one of the girls? Kelly? Do tell?
