Update on Erin’s Leg

Chad and Erin Paine celebrated Henry Paine’s one month birthday yesterday. And most of you know, Erin is at home with her family and is grateful for God’s goodness. Her right leg is still not functioning, but she is learning to use a walker and wheelchair. She has also been doing physical therapy.

A number of Bates family members, including Lawson and Tiffany Bates, traveled to Florida to babysit the Paine kids and bring Erin’s spirits up while she was in the hospital. The Paines continue to have help from family and friends. Lawson and Tiffany just posted a video to YouTube with clips from some of their visits to the hospital, including some tender moments when Erin was able to hug her kids and cuddle with Henry. Please continue to pray for complete healing for Erin.

  2. It was very thoughtful and loving of Lawson and Tiffany to go down to Florida and treat Erin's 4 older children to a fun day at Sea World. Those children, IMO, have never experienced any real trips for their enjoyment. Glad they did that for them.

    1. They made their money back by posting all about it on their vlog. That may have been a major reason for going.

    2. I would argue that they have had many enjoyable trips, but they just have not happened to go to Sea World or ride rollercoasters. There are many ways to enjoy life besides amusement parks.

  6. Nice update. It appears the doctors know what's wrong and Erin is in a treatment plan to help her recover.

    1. So what is wrong?

    2. They don’t know.

    3. Of course they know what's wrong. Her leg is paralyzed and she's getting treatment for that.

    4. Yes, the doctors know her leg isn’t functioning properly but they do not know the cause.

  7. Sending love and prayers for Erin for continued healing. ❤️πŸ™πŸ»πŸ™πŸ»πŸ™πŸ» My daughter had a UTI that went undetected and ended up with sepsis and she was in ICU for10 days. She had straight dialysis for four days and then regular dialysis for two days. She even needed a blood transfusion. This was right before her 22 birthday. After two more days in a regular room, she came home. She received physical therapy for 4 months to help her regain her strength and ability to walk, then she was able to return to work. This was 13 years ago. She is now doing very well and has no lasting issues with her kidneys and mobility. God is good!πŸ˜ŠπŸ™πŸ»❤️

  8. Even before all the news of her sepsis and seizure and non-working leg came out, I thought she looked like she'd had a stroke. It was there in her mouth shape and her eyes. I've seen it before.

    1. I think you're right about the stroke. Something seemed very off about her face in some of the videos.

    2. Would they ever come out and admit that her pregnancy/delivery caused a stroke? (Isn't there a family history of blood clotting disorders too?) On the other hand, I'm wondering if their silence on the subject is because of a potential medical malpractice suit or complaint or something, and it's best not to say anything at this point.

    3. I agree. A seizure is a type of stroke and that explains the loss of function in her leg. Recovery from a stoke usually takes a long time.

    4. They have no chance of success with med malp case. She was at VERY high risk for a stroke due to the clotting disorder. It was a high risk pregnancy,

    5. Maybe they're not fully explaining things because they knew she was high risk but got pregnant anyway? It's hard to admit you were at fault when things go wrong. Strokes and seizures can happen at the same time, too.

    6. Anon 6:39 This was always a hish rish pregnancy and Erin made the choice to have the baby. It didn't go well this time and perhaps they won't keep rolling the dice with another pregnancy.

  9. I pray she recovers full function in her leg and gets her strength back 100% πŸ™

  10. Erin is indeed blessed to be home and have family members to support her and help her with her children and household chores. So many people have to "suffer and fend" for themselves because they do not have support or family members living close by. The Bates family always come to "aide" of anyone needing help. They are a beautiful example of Christian love, caring, and support of their family members. We see the love of Jesus showing through each of them. Gil and Kelly Jo did an AWESOME job raising their children to be caring, loving, dedicated Christians! May we all learn from this family! I know I am in awe of this family values!

    1. Where is the Christian love, caring, and support for those who have to "suffer and fend" for themselves? Are those things only given when it's family and it's easy? Jesus took care of way more than family, whenever He saw suffering. I am in awe when people step up like He did and help strangers. That includes caring for them both in good times and in bad, making sure they have everything they need. Imagine if everyone did that instead of seeing problems and not helping, or worse yet, scorning and judging those less fortunate. Family helping family is lovely. But helping others - that's what's awesome. We should all ask ourselves, "What I have done today to make the world better for others?" We should all learn, though our good works, to recognize what's not good in this world AND strive to change it.

    2. The bAtes are very good about helping each other ina crisis but at the rate they're having babies now, Im not sure who is going to have TIME to help Chad aand Erin long term.

    3. 6:16,how do you know they/we aren't? When I do something kind for a stranger I like it to be between me and God.Whats important is to see a need and fulfil it if you can, without any fan fare or pats on the back for doing it. πŸ™‚

  11. Why does everyone on here have to diagnose what happened to Erin. Please leave that up to her Doctors and care team please. How rude. Am sure she will e fine. I think enough of their private life has been exposed. That is their choice though. TMI shouldn't be public in certain situations and this is one of many for the Bates family

    1. @10:06 Chad and Erin started the whole public discussion about this medical condition. Everyone else is just reacting to and weighing in on what they've said. How is that rude?

      Delete
    2. Then why have Chad and Erin not fully explained? They went so far and stopped. You don't ask for continued prayers and then don't say exactly why. Left everyone hanging there.
