Baby Ryker Coming Soon

UPDATE: Baby Ryker arrived on September 12th, and both he and Lydia are doing well.

Trace and Lydia Bates are about to become parents! Their first child, whom they have already named Ryker Cruise Bates, will soon make his arrival. Lydia's check-in for her induction is at 12am on Tuesday, September 12th. The expectant parents plan to have both their moms coming and going throughout the labor and to have Josie be the photographer for the actual delivery. They discuss their birth plan in their latest video.

  1. Is her doctor crazy? I can't believe anyone would make their patient go to the hospital at midnight to have labor induced.

    1. My doctor made me do that with my first, and that was 21 years ago. It was a waste of a night - I could have been getting rested up for labor the next day back at home, because nothing happened until she broke my water around 10 the next morning.

    2. It’s actually not that uncommon, done for billing/insurance purposes.

    3. I am a labor and delivery nurse. When a doctor is inducing before the cervix has dilated and thinned out, they will have the patient come in early to have a dose of cytotec. Cytotec helps the cervix thin and dilate. Usually around 6am we will start the pitocin and the doctor will come in a few hours later to break the water. I had this done with my son and had to be at the hospital at 11pm.

  10. I don’t think she’ll answer you! Remember you’re not her friend just because you watch her on TV.

    1. I don’t think they’re asking the Bates family members themselves, but the writers of the blog. Go to the contact us link & they explain who they are.

    2. When they’re asking Ellie, they don’t mean Ellie Bates. One of the blog writers is also named Ellie. Read the contact us link.

    3. Love your answer you are correct. Unless you have a personal relationship with Duggars or Bates you won't get a personal answer sorry Justine.
