Warden’s Girlfriend
Warden Bates, who turns 23 in May and is Gil and Kelly Bates’ 13th child, is in a relationship with Kaybrie Patterson. Also from East Tennessee, Kaybrie graduated high school last year and is playing college basketball.
Aw yay! Finally Warden has found a nice girl to court. I hope their relationship works out to the point of getting married. Next up Isaiah needs to find a nice girl and Addy and Callie find nice boys to court.
Young women do themselves a huge favor by furthering their education and gaining work experience so they can support themselves. A man isn't a plan. It's great if you can find the love of your life and live happily ever after, but stuff happens.... divorce, illness, job loss, or death of a spouse. Keep options open and cover the bases.
People are guessing that it's Isaiah that's getting married. Is it? Carlin put up an Instagram video of the gift basket she made for her new sister-in-law coming into the family.
I didn't get a gift basket when I got engaged! Just warm congratulations from the siblings and the distinct feeling they were happy and I was welcome, which has lasted all these years. Gee, where did I go wrong not to get gifts? Or where did my in-laws go wrong not to realized it takes gifts??
March18th 9:01 pm . Why rush into marriage? Let them enjoy life. None of them have all rush into marriage don't go to college don't work outside the home . Let them become real ADULT'S 1st. My goodness. Maybe they don't want marriage and babies ?
No more chaperones, no more "no touching rules", no more strict dress codes, no limits to social media access, etc. Gil seems to preach the same message, but lifestyles sure have changed. The kids used to wait until the honeymoon to drop all the rules but now it's no more rules while they are still living at home. I don't care one way or the other, however I do find it amusing that at one time they couldn't even hold hands until engaged and now look at them! They are just like everyone else now.
The Bates were never as strict as the Duggars, although they did have some similar rules. For example, they were allowed to hug normally and hold hands before marriage, and several of them kissed before marriage. They have discussed this in several Bringing Up Bates episodes as well as some of their YouTube channels. Additionally, I have been around them in real life and can personally attest to those who were courting walking around holding hands and giving long normal hugs to their boyfriend/fiancé . I am not remotely from their same background and it all seemed pretty normal to me for more serious Christians (i.e., they are not openly making out, having sex, and living together like in many mainstream relationships). I also know that many of them were talking to other people before they began dating/courting their spouses. They just didn’t have most of those relationships on the show because they were not serious yet.
As far as the dress codes and probably some other rules go—I think those have relaxed considerably. It makes sense to me that they would change and grow as parents. Most of us do. It would be more concerning if they remained completely static. I don’t know what Gil currently preaches about dress codes, so there may be inconsistency there, but I personally have not looked into his current sermons so it is hearsay unless personally investigated.
I did not watch their recent YouTube video so what I am saying might not be 100 percent accurate. I believe they were buying another rental property. They would not move out there and try to live in a one bedroom. Of all the Bates kids, the LawBates YouTube channel uses the most clickbait so I have a rule not to watch anymore. The titles on their videos are so misleading. I do understand why they do it -- to get more of us to watch lol. Trace and Carlin's videos have misleading titles as well. Oh well. I try to stick to the instagram accounts and rely on this blog to keep up to date.
My 12th grade English teacher is rolling in her grave over the transitive use of "graduate." It may be common usage but it was not allowed in her class!
I noticed too but Jackson and Emerson Bates has choose privacy of child also Brandon and Michael Kellen not allow show their show Foster kids' face because of policy
My opinion too. When the arrest scandals and cheating scandals begin, it's time for the families to go private and people to stop pretending everything is wonderful in Megafamily Land.
Were they girlfriend-boyfriend while she was still under 18? If so, then yes, they both should have found someone their own ages. (I don't want to hear how you have a 3 or 4 year age difference with your spouse. It's different when both are adults. This is potentially a minor with an adult situation.)
@Lily and Ellie: I am a fan of this blog, and the Duggar blog. I have just tried to use the link from the Bates Blog to get to the Duggar blog, and it takes me to a Google Account Login page. Have the two of you decided to discontinue the Duggar blog?
High school age and college age is a big gap at that point in a young person's development. It's also a potential sign that Warden wants a naive wife. That can have negative consequences for the girl in the future.

DeleteMight be time to quit blogging about the Bates and Duggars. Other families out there that have mor than 19 kids . Time to move on. Just my opinion.
