Erin’s First Steps

As most of you know, Erin Paine has not had function in her right leg since the seizure she experienced while in the hospital. She has been home for a couple weeks and has worked with physical therapists, but the problem has continued to persist. Then yesterday, she was suddenly able to move her leg and take some wobbly steps. Praise God for his healing work over Erin!

  2. How about praising medical professionals and modern medicine too?

    1. Agreed. @9:39 It's all about the Bateses and what they think gets the praise, when others spent years (and money) getting educated so they could give the kind of care needed. Those people give up their own family time to work and help others. They did the hardest work and Erin wouldn't be here without them!

    2. If you watch Chad’s video, he praised the medical team several times, thanking them for their kindness and help.

    3. Thank you for your comment you are right. Hey ya all what about her ENTIRE MEDICAL TEAM? Praise them too.

    4. "But the problem has continued to persist . . . then yesterday she was suddenly able to move her leg . . ." Sounds like God brought some healing, not the medical professionals suddenly making it work.

    6. Just wondering if the Bates family praised any other "god" would y'all be so critical? I highly doubt it. People can have faith in every other "god" out there and no one seems to care even if they don't agree, but let someone praise Jesus, the True God and all of a sudden it's a problem. People don't even realize they are proving the very Bible they say they don't believe: Matthew 5:10-12

    7. @8:59 There is a phenomenon known as spontaneous recovery. This occurs as the brain naturally finds new ways to perform tasks by rerouting or adapting neural pathways, often within the first few weeks to six months after a major health event, such as a stroke. It's not uncommon. What is crucial is intense physical therapy early on, which Erin likely had. I am glad for this family that she is on the road to recovery. Science is a wonderful thing!

    8. @8:59 Then how do you explain the millions of people suffering and praying and not receiving that healing? Erin was somehow singled out as more favored?

    9. 9:48, the explanation is that God is not a robot or a genie, and He's not bound to do things exactly the way we think He should. The Bible tells us that He doesn't think as man thinks. He sees the bigger picture.

    10. @8:21 I don't care what god people choose to worship or what religion they practice. It only becomes a problem when they try to impose their beliefs on others and expect us to believe that only their religion is the "right" one.

    11. @12:42 Yet, the comment was about not praising the medical staff. Where in their praising the Lord did they impose their beliefs? Chad did indeed praise the medical staff for all their hard work and care as well as friends and family who came in and helped. As for believing their beliefs are right...who would believe something they thought was wrong? That wouldn't make any sense.

    12. @8:37 12:42 here. My comment was directed to 8:21, who was complaining that only Christians are criticized. And I never accused the Paines of imposing their beliefs on others. My point was that religion only becomes a problem if and when it's imposed on other people. Religion has been the source of dispute and debate for generations. Believe whatever you wish, but don't expect others to accept your religion as the "right " one... everyone else can make the same claim about their own.

    1. This is a woman with a disability, hopefully temporary. She has a long road ahead of her. She lives in a house that is not equipped for people with mobility issues. She faces many struggles. And the first thing you think about is her uterus?

    2. What happened to Erin had nothing to do with her having her seventh baby.

    3. @9:10 Then it was all just a huge coincidence? You're sure? And you want them to try that again?

    4. @9:10 How do you know this for certain? She had a UTI/kidney infection that led to sepsis. It is a fact that pregnancy poses increased risk for UTI's due to hormonal changes and pressure on the bladder, which prevents it from emptying completely. Furthermore, repeated physical stresses of pregnancy and childbirth can cause lasting changes to the urinary tract and pelvic floor, making women more susceptible to infections.

    5. @6:12 Agree to all you said, and also UTI-causing bacteria is commonly found in hospitals. For instance, Citrobacter koseri.

  18. I went through that at age 13. I have had seizures since then. The power of prayer helped me walk again. I had three doctors and they said they are doctors of science not faith, they were surprised prayer worked. Praying for Erin!!!!

    1. Countless people pray for healing, but it doesn't happen. It seems "god" can't lose... if you pray and get what you want, god gets the credit. If it doesn't work out, he works in mysterious ways.

  19. I'll never understand how "God" picks who gets healed and who doesn't. Perfectly worthy people don't get it even though they have just as many or even more prayers. Then when the healed praise (like this), the unhealed feel even worse, like they did something wrong or aren't worthy. I think that's a cruel system. If anything, give credit to the medical and PT people, who give their all for everyone. Then if things don't work out, look for blame at the individual's cellular level, when their bodies aren't able to recover. Don't make everyone feel worse by claiming that some unseen being pulls these strings randomly, depending on how hard people plead for the outcome they want. It doesn't make sense, in all the times I've seen illness and healing and death, which in my lifetime has been a LOT. I would lose my mind if I tried to explain it in terms of some sort of divine lottery system. Think of all the hospitalized innocent children at this very moment... Why aren't they up and walking too? I was told Jesus loves the little children. That doesn't seem like any love I know and practice.

    1. 12:31. The best thing is to study the Bible deeply and pray for understanding. Sin entered the world with Adam and Eve..along with death and suffering. One day God will wipe away every tear… for man to question a divine Heavenly Father who created everything is counterproductive. None of us are worthy of the grace that is available to us through the blood of Jesus. My greatest growth in my Christian wife has definitely been in the valleys of suffering. Many times we praise the Lord just for grace and comfort to get through the sufferings in life.

  21. 12:31, this life is a drop in the ocean compared to an eternity that never ends. I, for one, am very grateful that Jesus paid for my sins on the cross, so that I don’t have to spend forever (literally) in a world full of sickness and pain. This present life is like a vapor, the Bible says. We live in a fallen, sinful world, but praise God, He has provided a way out. For those who have believed and accepted Christ’s promise of forgiveness, the (forever) future is bright! John 3:16 KJV.

    1. What if you want that bright future here and now instead?

    2. I don't think we should use the Bible to dismiss the feelings of people who don't have their prayers answered. Life is NOT fair and when your prayers go unanswered, the feeling you have are real and legitimate. Having your feelings dismissed diminish people, and is not consistent with Christian belief.
