Erin Paine in ICU

Henry Paine is one week old and is doing well in the NICU. Erin is also still in the hospital, in the ICU, after going into septic shock from a severe UTI and kidney infection. Please continue praying for Erin and Henry, as well as for Chad and their kids at home.

Update on September 4th: After her infection improved some, Erin had a severe seizure and is now very weak. Please continue to pray for healing and for wisdom for her doctors as they run tests and search for answers.

  2. I will say a prayer for healing for Erin, and baby Henry too. I'm not a doctor or even a nurse, but in my opinion, Erin and her husband need to slow down and joyfully raise the children they already have. (In this day and age, we don't hear very much about New Mom's dying, but it does happen). Chad and Erin: Slow Down, remember "quality not quantity".

    1. I believe that Gil & Kelly Jo have beautifully demonstrated that quality AND quantity IS possible. Children are our future and we should applaud those willing to lovingly raise them!

    2. Are you saying if someone has quantity in kids they can't achieve quality? Obviously that was not the case with Gil and Kelly Jo. They had quantity and quality in their family. The size of ones family does not matter. It's how those kids are raised. I think Erin and Chad are doing a good job. Those kids are so polite and well behaved and thoughtful.

    3. Maybe I missed some of the details, but did her UTi, kidney infection, and septic shock actually happen because of the pregnancy? Many nonpregnant women get UTIs that can turn very serious and lead to near or even fatal infections as well. If the timing just happened to be when she gave birth and not because of her pregnancy, then not having more children isn't necessarily the answer.

    4. Anyone can get sepsis. This has nothing to do with having multiple children. YOU can go septic today from a hidden infection you don’t even know you have. Prayers without judgement.

    5. That’s such a heartless thing to say at a time like this. What happened to her can happen to anyone, male or female at any time. The situation is extremely dangerous, let’s pray she is okay and further damage isn’t done to other body organs in the meantime.

    6. 1:17 Agreed. She can't go through this again, for the sake of everyone involved. She and Chad had better realize this and be glad for what they already have, not take more chances. There are people who have had fewer health issues yet still chose to quit after one baby because that's the safest and most logical, grown-up thing to do.

    7. I’m sure your prayers are appreciated BUT your “advice “ should have been kept to yourself, especially right now!!!

    11. My friend had similar horrible complications after her first birth and she was 20 years old. Stop telling a family that is hurting what they ought to be doing. Things like this happen because we live in a fallen world.

    12. @5:32 No, we live in a germy world full of bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites, all who were here long before we were and are better adapted to survival. Sepsis is not a result of some sort of sin.

    13. I am the OP and I speak from personal experience. My cousin and her husband had 7 children within a 5 year span. My cousin had a history of epilepsy and died of a seizure, leaving SEVEN children, under the age of 11 without a mother. Our family and her widowed husband did their best but her early, untimely death affected the children greatly. Yes, God gives us wisdom, knowledge, understanding, and reason, as explained in Proverbs. I'm just suggesting that Erin and Chad take some time and think about the positive and negative possibilities.

    14. I don’t see this comment as rude but wise. She is seriously sick and little one is in nicu. With this health scare I know I wouldn’t deliver again but that’s my opinion. Wishing her a speedy recovery and for a healthy baby. Also, the strength to take care of her other kiddos.

    15. @12:09, death and illness came by sin in the Garden of Eden. There was no bad bacteria, viruses and parasites until after Adam and Eve sinned against God. Things like this do happen becasue we do live in a fallen world and when Jesus comes back, He'll set it all to rights again.

    1. They are a close knit family, I'm sure they will all drop everything to help during this difficult time,as they did when Kelly had sepsis, and I'm sure they will all support Chad and Erin.

    3. I say this with gentleness. And, I don't know your heart or tone in your comment, but this outcome isn't a sign. The Lord graciously blessed her with another baby. He's sovereign over Erin and her health as well. This sort of thing can befall anyone- pregnant or not. Give grace, pray-if you're a believer, and speak only that which is edifying according to the need of the moment so that it will give grace to those who hear. This circumstance will work together for their good & His glory--God has promised this to all believers in Christ- His ways are perfect & He is trustworthy & good. God bless you & Soli Deo Gloria!

    4. you can get a kidney. infection and not be pregnant and it can still go septic, you don't have to be pregnant for something to go wrong what a rude comment

    5. They asked for prayers not lectures. It isn't appropriate now or ever.

    6. I think this is a sad comment. I just had a friend go through the exact same thing and she didn't have a baby. She's 54. It was a UTI that did exact same as Erin. So let's just lift the family up in prayer and not condemn her for having kids. One thing has nothing to do with the other

    7. I hope that you will take this as a sign not to give your opinion on someone’s medical condition.

    8. She has a 70% chance of not surviving this health challenge

    9. Oh please. When you see someone almost die after delivery, it's very logical to think that maybe another delivery in the future is not a good idea. I sure hope Erin's doctors get that point across to her. This isn't the first time she's had pregnancy problems, correct? Are we seeing the pattern yet?

  15. I read the statement they put out about her and was appalled to see it focused mainly on how "sweet" she was being to everyone despite her illness. That's all that matters to them, "keeping sweet"? Having children at light speed yet expected to be nice to everyone even though you're fighting for your life. What a system.

    1. The only thing troubling to me is why didn’t they give her a c-section, instead of allowing Erin to suffer through this different labor. Kinda reminds me of my sister suffering through over 30 hours of difficult labor, leading her to have a stroke during labor.

    2. i thought exact same in icu fighting for her life and thats all they could talk about

  25. Ephesians 6:10-18 ‘10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. 19 Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I

  28. It’s wild that since she has 6 other kids people are saying “don’t have more kids” yet if she had just one no one would say that. This could’ve happened to a first time mom too, God has greatly blessed Chad and Erin, prayers for her healing.

    1. No, if it happened after anyone's first baby, common sense should tell them not to have more.

    2. Give me a break! That is like saying, the first time a person rode a bike without training wheels, they fell, broke their arm with a compound fracture from a bad fall against the curb and saying "common sense tells me I should never get back on the bike." That kinda philosophy is nothing but fear dictating your actions. There's no guarantee the next time one gets on the bike they're gonna fall and break another bone. There's no guarantee that the next pregnancy will also produce complications.

  29. My heart breaks to hear of the sepsis seizure, my prayers are with this dear family. . . I survived sepsis in 2019 from an undiagnosed UTI..mine came on quickly and left me out of it. After not responding to my husband for a couple hours, he called our daughter and she immediately got me to ER and saved my life. I don’t think people realize how sepsis can hit anyone at any age and the symptoms can vary.

  36. According to many comments here, I guess I shouldn't ask but here goes. . .how do Chad and Erin afford to have these children? Prenatal care, doctor care, hospital care, especially NICU and ICU cost lots of money. Health insurance premiums are astronomical. Commentators on here are going to write that "it's none of my business" but if they're using Medicaid, SNAP, WIC, those are government programs and as a taxpayer, I'm running out of money. My husband and I stopped having children after 3 because we couldn't afford any more and we wouldn't think of having taxpayers fund our "choices".

I’m grateful for the Paine family. May our Lord Jesus Christ give miraculous healing to Erin, and strength to Chad and the family.
