As the Bates are all making their way to Orlando for Jackson Bates’ wedding this weekend, another one of the siblings has shared a big announcement. Tori and Bobby Smith are expecting Baby No. 5! Tori, 27, and Bobby, 28, are the parents of four. Kade is almost five, Kolter is three, Charlotte is two, and Cambree is 14 months. This will be Gil and Kelly Bates’ 29th grandchild. Erin Paine is due in December, and Josie Balka is due in March.
Five kids under the age of six. Will they ever stop. You know, there's such a thing as slowing down and focusing on what you already have instead of stressing your body to its max and trying to set some kind of record. This girl is going to be perpetually pregnant or nursing until her body rebels or gives up.
ReplyDeleteGood for them! It is their decision on how they do their life. I don't believe nasty comments or judgment are necessary. You do you and they will live as they choose!
DeleteYour comment is not nice. If you do not like the news, don't comment on here. Children are a gift from the Lord.
DeleteJot your decision if they want more kids do want they are a blessing nothing wrong with it they aren’t hurting anyone!
DeleteIt’s called common sense. They’re young, what’s the hurry! How much attention can she give each child? Excellent comment!
DeleteI have a feeling they'll stop after this. Five is a nice-sized family, and I doubt Bobby could afford much more. The Bates women are a sensible bunch!
DeleteThey don't seem to think it's a problem. I think they're trying to match her parents' numbers.
DeleteWOW! Why do you care? It's their CHOICE to have a big family. Their choice doesn't affect your life in any way. Let it go!!
DeleteNot your business!! You have nothing to say about how many children they have.
DeleteKind of hard to stop if you don’t believe in birth control
DeleteI agree @ Q5:33. And to all those negative people...quit the negative comments! It's not your body or your choice or your finances. What do you care how many kids another woman has? It's not gonna affect you! It's her choice! If someone is pregnant congratulate them. Seriously. Why is it people treat pregnancy like a bad thing? Good grief. It's a baby. Just love them! Personally I'm ecstatic. Congrats Smiths!!!!
DeleteWill they ever stop? Was that a rude rhetorical question? Obviously the answer is yes. They will. Everyone does.
DeleteHow do you know they are trying to "set a record"?
DeleteMaybe they just want a lot of kids. Nothing wrong with that!
Congrats
DeleteCongratulations
DeleteThis comment was rude. I’m pretty excited for Tori! Babies are awesome and they are fun! Congratulations Tori and Bobby!
DeleteWoo-hoo! Congratulations Tori and Bobby! Don’t know when Tori is due, but she’s very close with Erin, so I’m sure it’s fun for them being pregnant together, even if it’s only for a couple of months.
ReplyDeleteHad a feeling it wouldn't be long until Tori and Bobby announced a pregnancy knowing they're on track for a big family. Congratulations to the Smith Family!
ReplyDeleteRight on schedule. I wonder if she'll have 19 kids like her mom.
ReplyDeleteSo if they decide to have 19 then that’s their decision no one else’s and they aren’t the only ones in the family to have 5 kids! All kids are a blessing so nothing wrong with having a big family
DeleteExactly, its their family, their home, and their choice on how many children they have. Some people can be so rude and ugly sometimes. Congratulations Bobby and Tori.
Delete11:04 "Kids are a blessing" is a very tired platitude, often used by people who justify having huge families. Have as many as you can love on and care for, or don't have any at all. It's the parents that should be a blessing to the children they choose to have, not the other way around. God certainly isn't going to be there to provide for them.
DeleteWow, that's quite an angry reaction! I guess we're not allowed to wonder.
Delete2:17, children ARE a blessing and parents should be a blessing to their kids. Both are true.
Delete9:55. Wondering is one thing, judging and condemning is another. That's what a lot of the women on here are doing.
DeleteAnon 11:41. I see. We're allowed to wonder if we're wondering in the right way. We can only wonder approvingly. Thank you.
DeleteYes, today way too many parents are NOT a blessing to their children. Parents have a responsibility to the ones they call into this world and don't live up to it.
DeleteThey seem to love children. I wonder why they dont' adopt? It would give Tori's body a rest and give a child a home.
ReplyDeleteAdoption is not for everyone. It's something more people should consider, but it is a big undertaking not to be taken lightly just because you want a big family.
DeleteWell, Scripture does command we care for orphans. That's one of the reasons I thought they'd jump on the idea.
DeleteCongratulations on a sweet blessing! I love hearing updates from the kids as they grow, but I really love that Tori and Bobby are doing what is best for their family and not feeling pressured to share everything with the world.
ReplyDeleteI wonder why she didn't wait until after her brother's wedding to make this announcement? Not like it was some sort of emergency.
ReplyDeleteShe’s quite possibly starting to show as they usually announce later than most of their siblings, so will likely be in maternity wear for the wedding, so might as well announce first
DeleteMaybe because her pregnancy will be obvious at the wedding?
DeleteCongratulations!! Ignore the negative comments. Children are a gift from God. I still don't understand why people who are not financially supporting, or physically caring for someone else's children feel they have the right to comment or dictate how many children someone else chooses to have.
ReplyDeleteWell said Tammy. Some people just don't know how to mind their own business.
DeleteTammy- I take issue with your second statement. If children are a "gift from God", he's obviously not very discerning about who he is gifting. If he were, there wouldn't be countless children born to abusive and neglectful parents or born into other dangerous circumstances where countries are being torn apart from war. Every innocent child born is deserving of the gift of loving parents and a secure and safe environment where all their physical and emotional needs met. It seems your God has things backwards.
Delete@12:36 Because children grow up to be adults all the while that's happening, someone else has to produce their food, supply them with electricity and water, haul their trash away, deal with the pollution they and their cars make, provide medical services and staff, provide schools and staff, and everything else it takes to live in our society. You also need to take into consideration the financial balance needed for the government to provide Social Security and Medicare later, or SSI/SSDI and Medicaid sooner. You really think the number of children a family has doesn't impact everyone? Because unless you live off-grid somewhere, produce all your own food, and never use a doctor or government services, it impacts us all.
DeleteDictate? I think they are stating their opinion. Please don't try to silence others. In this great country, we can all speak our opinions!
DeleteWell said 3:38. The megafamilies never think about those things. It's very selfish.
Delete7:49, children are a gift from God, whether the parents acknowledge it or not. If more people believed that, then there would be fewer abused and abandoned children. How about spreading the message that they are a gift and should be valued and taken care of?
Delete@3:38. This is the dumbest statement. If your great grandparents, grandparents, and parents hadn't procreated you wouldn't be here, and I bet you had kids too. Did anybody give you or your parents this same advice before you were born or you had children?
Delete@7:49. God tells us in the Bible "to go forth and multiply." God blessed us all with free will, unfortunately too many people choose to have children and neglect, abuse, and even murder them. We are not supposed to question God's ways. He has a plan for everyone and everything. Children are definitely, 100%, a gift from God, some parents just dont know how great of a gift they are.
DeleteI don't think the Lord meant being fruitful and multiplying actually meant have as many babies as possible. I believe that He meant to spread The Word to people who are already here on Earth..grow and multiply Christian believers. It's a wonder how meanings can be lost.
Delete@10:23 Most people are responsible with family size and don't try to rack up numbers so big that the public wants to watch their every move later on TV.
DeleteMaybe the Bible meant to go forth and get degrees in mathematics. Then you can multiply, divide, do summations, integrate, and the whole "3 squared" yards.
Delete7:27, that verse is actually in Genesis, and it's definitely referring to populating the earth.
DeleteBe fruitful and multiply could mean eat bananas and peaches while you do your math homework.
Delete10:01 If God is loving and all-powerful, he would not "gift" children to people who are not fit to parent and allow the kids to suffer in the bargain. That's like gifting someone a puppy, when they don't have the space, time, or money to care for it. If this is how God operates, which apparently he does, you're darn right I'll question him. It's when people stop asking questions that they become indoctrinated and controlled by other people.
Delete10:17, you're missing the point. How about we start teaching young people that God loves them, that their lives are valuable, that children are valuable. Teach them to LOVE their kids. Teach them HOW to be good parents. Stop cursing the darkness and spread light instead.
Delete2:10 If someone needs to be lectured that it's somehow an obligation to have children because they are valuable because God says so, they shouldn't be having kids at all, IMO.
DeleteColor me petty but if I were Emerson's mother I'd be fuming that they could not have waited until next week to announce this. Didn't they feel the bride and groom should have their wedding week all about them? It's not like they were struggling with infertility like Michaela
ReplyDeleteIMHO Michaela would've had the courtesy to wait until Monday! Congratulations to Tori but their timing is very off putting.
@8:09 Well not that it is any of your business but it's possible that she is already showing and people would ask.
DeleteI doubt Emerson and Jackson are so narcissistic that they need an entire week to be "all about them." In a family of 19 children, it's unlikely there'd be no news at all, from anyone, during an entire week? Besides, creating a news blackout does not guarantee that it will be "all about" the bridal company anyway. People are going to think about other things--you can't control that!
DeleteA loving person would think that Tori's announcement meant even more joy this weekend. Instead of, "Don't steal the attention away from me!"
DeleteI agree. They were pretty inconsiderate as they could have waited until after the wedding to make their announcement.
DeleteFuming? Wow, interesting. Do you think Emerson's mom wants everyone to talk exclusively about her daughter for the entire weekend? How will she enforce that? Well, in any event, this is Tori's fifth child. I can't imagine this news will be the talk of the wedding. It's not like it was Michaela.
DeleteThat family is use to baby announcements. Not phase a bit. The more the merrie.
DeleteThat's silly. A baby announcement and the resulting reactions take how long? Not long.
DeleteNobody is trying to steal the spotlight and I'm sure Emerson and her family are not thinking like that at all, come on its obvious why they had to announce now,her tummy has started to show so if she hadn't announced people would have found out from other sources as there are bound to be a large number of people at the wedding, and I presume she couldn't announce before because they are afraid to announce too early in case of a miscarriage.
DeleteI don't think the Bates focus on such things. They're more the type to think, "one more thing to be joyful for!" I can't believe Emerson's mother would care that much about her daughter getting 100% of the attention. Would her dad care equally as much?
DeleteIs that all y'all have to complain about? Doesn't seem like much and only makes you look petty
DeleteIn my honest opinion, I bet they told her it was okay to go ahead and announce it, because they didn't feel threatened by more good news being shared. That's how some families treat each other because they aren't insecure and petty. Remember Joy Anna Duggar wanting her brother Joseph to propose to Kendra at her wedding reception? Yeah that. Smh.
DeleteYep- you're petty
DeleteYou're right. That is petty.
DeleteWith such a big family, there will be a lot of times when more than one new thing is happening. I don’t think they were upset at all that Tori announced her pregnancy. I’m sure they’re happy for her.
DeleteTori probably announced her pregnancy just because they will be in the wedding, and people will notice. So by announcing it now, she avoided a lot of attention at the wedding and after, and all the attention was to Jackson and Emerson instead.
DeleteIf you were Emerson’s mother you would have an issue? lol. Erin announced her pregnancy during Carlin’s wedding reception. Here’s the thing. Someone is always pregnant in this family. Someone is always getting married. So if they had to wait to announce something… they’d never announce it. It’s not like she stood up during the wedding to say she was pregnant. And btw, you forget that they probably announced to the family weeks ago and only said anything publicly bc she will be showing.
DeleteI doubt that Emerson's mother would be that petty. With all the horrible things going on in the world, an extra dose of good news sounds mighty fine to me.
ReplyDeleteThis baby blessing to both of you and your family . Thank you for continuing to share your good news about the babies and weddings with us.
ReplyDeleteDon't jump me! How do they all afford such large families? These Mom's should let their bodies rest a bit. To each their own.
ReplyDeleteSomeone here is sure to advise you that it's none of your business. Even though Tori and Bobby ask that these announcements be posted. It's still none of your business. Your job is just to say, "Great!" without question.
DeleteTo those one the “they should’ve waited to announce the baby til after the wedding train”: I disagree completely. This is an extremely large extended family and this is their 5th baby in 6 years. It’s not like this news is going to dominate the wedding at all. I had 7 kids in 9 years. I know. She’s probably already showing and not announcing it would’ve cause more attention and speculation than just spilling the beans. Little happy blip. Trust me, sorry to say, nobody gets a ton of attention for a 5th baby unless it’s something like her sister with the string of girls and then a boy. These people love children and have another one join their extended family fairly frequently-like weddings. I don’t think they wired to get their feelings hurt this easily when they don’t get all the attention-which we could all learn from.
ReplyDeleteAh a woman after my own heart! We leave the choice of creating life up to God. We have five children 6 and under and it’s an incredible blessing!
ReplyDelete“couples should really trust in God and let Him decide to call into existence a new human person and a new possible citizen of heaven. Why limit the number of citizens of heaven? Why not have more citizens of heaven, who for all eternity will see God, love, adore, and glorify Him?" - Bishop Athananius Schneider, Christ's Triumph Over the Darkness of the Age
@9:40 Your God is calling into existence a lot of children born into abusive and neglectful homes, as well as into unsafe and dangerous circumstances. If it's his will they are born, he should be making sure every innocent child is blessed with "heaven" right here on earth, rather than having them wait to die in order to experience it.
DeleteAmen!!!!!!!
DeleteWho's feeding, housing, and clothing all those "citizens of heaven" before they reach there? I don't see God handing out monthly support checks for all these "blessings." I see children who are going hungry or suffering some kind of neglect or abuse, even children whose 2 parents are in the home. But then I volunteer with charities that fight those issues, so I see them all the time. @9:40 If you feel so passionate about all children being blessings, you should also work with the ones whose parents don't feel that same way or can't support them. The reality would open your eyes and shock you as to how widespread the problems are.
DeleteI've always wanted to ask someone who feels the way 9:40 does: If a woman has an abortion, doesn't that soul go to heaven? So does that quote about limiting souls still apply then? Seriously, what about aborted souls?
Delete@10:52 Either they won't answer or there will be some sort of mental gymnastics to try to explain how it's not OK to do that. But it's a valid question for people who think Heaven is such a wonderful place to be and that only the most blessed get to go there.
DeleteThis announcement couldn't wait until after Jackson's wedding? Seems sad they wanted to steal his thunder.
ReplyDeleteOne more reason to be joyful doesn't seem like a bad thing when their family all gets to be together.
DeleteHow do you know what they wanted? Maybe they wanted to share the news with all the family in person. Why do you automatically assume they had bad motives?
DeleteYou understand that once Tori is seen at the wedding, pregnant, all attention would be to her, not the wedding? By announcing it prior the wedding, she let everyone know, and so now people could fully enjoy the wedding.
DeleteWith a family of their size, it's probably hard to time ANY announcement...in between other births, weddings, birthdays, anniversaries.....there is always a special occasion going on.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Smith Family on your new addition. Wait on that tie breaker. Time for a boy....
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!!๐
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing all the people ( I'm going to guess are all women) who are whining about Tori announcing her pregnancy before the wedding are the ones who would be angry. It's like everyone will go up to Jackson and Emerson after the wedding and say "Congratulations! Oh I'm sorry! I met to say congrats to Tori!" ๐
ReplyDeleteWhining? You sound angry and upset. Is that a Christian way to respond? Please rethink your word choice to reflect Jesus' love and glory.
DeleteCongratulations Tori and Bobby and your family.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Smith's for your upcoming miracle!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Smith Family!! Y'all are so blessed! I always love hearing news about more Bates grandchildren. May God give health to mama and baby....and please don't listen to the unkind comments posted here. I am so sorry that people are so nasty for news as wonderful as another baby. God bless y'all again!! Greetings from Texas
