Sewing with Michaela

Michaela Keilen and friend Emily Raynes

Last night on Bringing Up Bates (click here to read our recap), viewers watched Kelly Bates, Katie Bates, and a family-friend named Emily travel up to Chicago to visit the Keilens. In this deleted scene, Michaela pulls out the brand new, computerized Singer sewing and quilting machine that she received as a wedding gift. The other women help her figure out how to use it, which is no simple task.

  1. Oh how I can relate! I have a Singer and though it is not computerized it has several stitch options and other bells and whistles. Sometimes I still can't finger it out but I've been inspired to start sewing again. I have some fabric scrapes so maybe I will try my hand at making a small quilt.

  2. I'm happy for Michael. What a beautiful gift, and you can tell Michael appreciates it. I know her heartache trying to build a family. When you realize Motherhood goes so much deeper than biology then building through adoption is the absolute sweetest gift. The Lord did that for us.

  4. Oooh, lucky Michaela! I've been doing embroidery on machines for years...so far, I've had 5. My favorite is the The Dream Machine, 8500D from Brother. I embroider all sorts of things and it's tons of fun. Michaela can take classes from a quilting store that sells the machines. Being as she got it as a gift, she might ask where it was purchased from and go to that store; they usually offer free classes. Have fun, Michaela!!!

    1. Sorry about that. Michaela and Brandon removed it, but we will post the link again if they put it back up. :)

  6. Hi Ellie, the link you provided for the store doesn't work. Did they remove that part of their website?
