The Paines' Ever-Changing Living Room

Most of you have heard about Chad Paine's passion for restoring old furniture and making new furniture. (He and Erin hope to turn that hobby into a business very soon.) Did you know that the father of two also enjoys redecorating?

The Paines' tiny, cottage-style house has undergone quite a few renovations since the couple tied the knot in November 2013.

This photo of their living room was taken earlier this summer...

But just last year, the same room had two other "looks." This is the "pre-Carson" living room...

And this is the "post-Carson" living room...

Do you enjoy redecorating?

  1. How can they afford to buy new couches all the time? We still have the couches my parents bought when they got married nearly 24 years ago.

    2. The couch in the first photo is obviously the same as in the third photo but with a slip cover.

    3. I believe that the current, tan-colored couch is simply a cover over the dark brown one in the bottom photo. Perhaps they got the blue one in the middle photo as a hand-me-down when first married (as many couples seem to do; inherit old furniture from family or friends), and then they saved up and purchased a new one (the dark brown one), and then recovered it with a slip-over cover (the lighter brown/tan) when they redecorated the last time. Just my guess. :)

    4. Closer examination that shows they just added a couch cover over their old couch. Cheers

    5. I think if you look closely you can see at the newest picture. The sofa has a slipcover on it. Slipcovers our really cost effective way to update the look of your furniture.

    8. Oh, Brother. Please don't bother to comment if you must be off topic and negative! I love to redecorate! I rotate pieces from room to room often giving them completely new functions. Paint is the fastest and easiest way to transform a room or piece of furniture. Small little details like Erin's blue bottle collections can be picked up for a song at Dollar stores or thrift stores. I love that they redecorate often. It seems they refine their taste more and more each time.

    11. The first one they may not have purchased, it may have been a hand me down or gotten it off. Raiglist or something. You don't know. And their current couch definitely looks like the same brown one with a slip cover on it.

    18. They probably save their money or bought another couch second hand. Whenever my husband and I want something new we put away for it.

    19. They are starting a furniture business. It is probably not too hard for them to get furniture!

  2. If you look closely, you will see that the most recent couch (the tan one) is actually the same couch, but just has been fitted with a slipcover. A very creative and frugal way to change the look and feel of a room. Go Chad and Erin!

  15. Easy peasy. So many people sell or give away their "old "furniture on sites like craigslist and offerup just to get rid of it because they buy new stuff. They could also refabric. There are a million ways to redecorate on the cheap. Educate yourself and you too can freshen up your home.
