Bates to Return for Season 5

For those who didn't see yesterday's post, we want to make sure you know that season four of Bringing Up Bates will continue into the fall. And we have more exciting news to share...

UP just announced that Bringing Up Bates has been renewed for a fifth season! The show is growing in popularity, and season four is outperforming season three. As of now, the network has ordered 13 new episodes from the production company, to air in 2017.

In the same press release, UP also announced that another hit original series, Growing Up McGhee, will return for a second season.

UP executive vice president and general manager Amy Winter shared why she believes the two families have been so successful on reality TV:

“Bringing Up Bates and Growing Up McGhee truly speak to our audience with the perfect blend of heart and humor. They are brand-defining series that deliver on UP’s promise to bring viewers great stories about families of all shapes and sizes. These lovable families have welcomed viewers into their homes each week, and we are excited to continue the journey with them and experience all of the love, laughter, excitement, and chaos in their ever-changing and highly entertaining lives.”

We love the network's description of Bringing Up Bates:

Led by devoted father Gil and his loving wife Kelly Jo, the Bates do everything in bulk while staying true to their values and rules for the family. But lately – as viewers will see – their simple rural lifestyle in Tennessee is in a flurry of transitions as this remarkable and ever-growing family continues to navigate life’s triumphs and challenges.

  1. Wish I could get excited but can't. Still won't show in Canada on either iTunes or Amazon and don't have UP channel. Still upset and don't understand why they won't show in Canada if they're Christian channel. Should they show to everyone instead of just limited of people? Doesn't make sense to me at all.

  11. To Amy Winter, Why cant you guys work out a deal with Charter and bring the UP Channel back to Charter. I miss watching the Bates family and other movies on the UP Channel. Thank you.

    1. I dont know what Charter refers to, but there is clearly a difference in Up programing from their first years. I only watch Bringing Up Bates on Up now where I use to watch a lot of their other programing too. America's home videos has gotten gross and other shows are repetitive and nothing I would want my grandchildren to watch when they are visiting.

  12. I'm glad they are returning for another season, but upset with UP. They only show 30 minute episodes and have been showing 13 episodes for every single season! I understood it for the first or maybe 2, but this is the 5th season. Show more episodes, UP and make them 1 hour or two 30 minute ones! One 30 minute episode is not enough.
