Recap: 'The Wedding To-Do List'

Tonight on Bringing Up Bates, "The Wedding To-Do List"...
  • Michaella calls Brandon to tell him that Wallace Memorial Baptist Church has agreed to let them use the church for their wedding. The church has a youth lock-in that weekend, so the Bates and Keilens can only set up for the wedding the day of, and the reception must be over by the early evening.
  • The Bates family has a fabulous oral surgeon who works with their budget. Zach, Michaella, Erin, and Tori have all had their wisdom teeth pulled, and now it's Lawson's turn.
  • According to the family, Lawson has a pain tolerance of zero and is very melodramatic when it comes to dental procedures.
  • On the day of the surgery, Gil brings a camera to capture Lawson's entertaining post-op for Kelly, who stays home because she is prone to fainting during the kids' medical emergencies. The mom of 19 can handle pain herself, but when she sees her children in pain, it makes her feel lightheaded.
  • When the procedure is over, Lawson plays up the severity of his condition, but he manages to take a selfie on the drive home.
  • Brandon comes to Tennessee so he and Michaella can meet with a wedding coordinator friend, shop for wedding bands, and choose brown tuxedos. Tori and Carlin go along as chaperones.
  • Most people would consider 500-800 guests to be a massive wedding, but according to Nathan, "anything under 1,000 is a small wedding." Lawson agrees. Brandon, on the other hand, considers a small wedding to be one with around 50 people. Michaella and Brandon are going to have less attendees than all three previous Bates weddings.
  • Although Michaella's wedding is going to be big, she and Brandon are committed to keeping it cost effective, which makes Gil very happy. "Sometimes when I see [my dad] crying when the girl is walking down the aisle, I wonder if he is crying because he is losing his girl, or if he is crying because he is seeing all the things he bought that he is just discovering," says Nathan.

  1. 500-800 is a pretty typical wedding size where I live :)

    1. Chad is so loving. A wonderful guy. And as he has often said, " he has a remarkable wife". They are a perfect match. Seldom do you see perfect matches. But I do think all of the In laws are awfully special. They all are just perfect for their spouses. I think Whitney is perfect for Zach. I think John is just perfect for Alyssa. Saw a photo of John and Alyssa and he was carrying his bible and I hears him speak of God being an important part in his home and his life. He always speaks honestly. I think Brandon too is a God fearing man, perfect for Micheal.

    1. This show really is unique. The whole family is all at ease and relax. No pretense nor is there any staging. Loved how Micheal puts her sisters in line. Love also how Brandon does not allow Micheal sisters to push him around. He stands firm. Maybe it's from dealing with sisters of his own.

    1. I remember on one show Kelly stated what attracted her to Gil and I remember one of the qualities was his upbeat, fun way. It seems those qualities have also passed onto their children.. We all need to have a little bit of humor. Laughter brings such joy.

  6. I like how Brandon does not allow the two sister Tori and Carlin push him around. He has a mind of his own . He is a gentle soul though. He is always willing to help when needed at their gatherings and always carrying a younger Bates child. He is amazing. He helped design their wedding cake. Funny how he stands firms on things, like the wedding date. He appears to come from a very close and loving family. How sweet and loving his sister are to Michael. One sister of Brandon had helped wipe Michael's tears away and hugged her when she was shaking so when it hit her she was about to be proposed to. A beautiful show. Only one show I didn't care for was when Gil was filming Lawsons dental appointment horror. It seemed staged.

  7. I love this show. I just hope that they add more shows with the In laws in them. I would like to see the Bates girls at their in laws gatherings. Would like to see more of Brandons family. His father really looks like such a Godly man. Would like to see more of Chad s parents. They too seem so Godly. It would be wonderful to see more(of the In laws) those families that are as close as the Bates. And it would be nice to see the other In laws, who are the kind of parents like Kelly and Gal raising Christian children homeschooled. Would like to see more of the Bates friends too . Loved Erin s friend who threw her the baby shower.

  8. I love these blogs. You learn so much and you can share views and insight of the show with other fans. I had a hard time figuring out the children's names and ages, but when I looked at the blog I saw their names ages and birthdays listed. It helped a great deal. You can see who is closest in age and who is close to who. I would never have guessed that Trace.was not closer in age to Lawson unless I saw it posted on the blog. I would never had guessed Lawson was older than Alyssa either. She is so mature for her age. Was so surprised to see two sets of kids have the same.birthday but years apart in age. Nor would I had know that Lawson and Nathan go by their middle names ! Pretty neat. Love the show. Love these blogs.

  9. I love how honest this show is. Kelly is such a loving mother. Loved how Erin said after giving birth said to her Mom, " Can't believe it. You did this 19 times??" I loved how Gil and Kelly are so honest. Kelly can take pain but can not.watch her.kids in pain. She even past out once, they said. I would too. Am glad that Gil is so strong. And understanding about this. You need one.parent standing strong during emergencies.

  10. I love Kelly and Gal and I love how they both put put the Lord first. I once read that Kelly's father was a Pastor. What a beautiful thing. Am touched that Kelly allowed Gil to be a Pastor. I once knew a married woman who would not.allow her husband to be a Pastor after they were young and were married, and he had a degree , because it was more.important to her that her husband had a good paying job. Sad. He has that good paying job. I think it's very important. to have a good spouse who is encouraging and supportive. And loves the Lord as dearly as You do. Gil and Kelly, I loved you.
